Short Story 8: A bad show experience

Hello guys! So Recently I had a very bad show experience, it wasn't really the show itself but everything that happened before. And I just wanted to give you some tips in case you come across with a similar situation.
It all started when we were invited to play at this kinda famous bar here in Mexico. We were excited since there was gonna be lots of people who don't really know our band, of course we accepted.
They told us they already had equipment there, but that was a lie really. They did have equipment but it wasn't enough, a few couple of 15w amps, a mic and 1 awful sounding drumkit.
Here's how you can avoid this: Always ask what they have, and what you need to bring to the gig. And even then, if it's possible for you to bring all your stuff and leave it at the trunk as a backup, please do so.
So we arrived earlier since we had our soundcheck programmed but the audio engineer hadn't arrived yet at the venue, so we had to wait for him, later on we heard that the owner told him about the show just the day before, and that 2 more tech guys were gonna be there helping this engineer, and they never showed, so this guy had to do extra work and that took more time too.
There's nothing you can really do there, just bad luck, maybe just try to look up the place reputation or ask other bands that have played there if they actually care about preping the show.
We were just sitting there waiting for our turn, and we asked for some beers, we were told they didn't have any cost for us (the musicians) but surprise surprise, they did charge us for them, and they where quite expensive too. Also I had a reservation for my famlily and friends, and the waiters just gave the table away. Everything they promised was a lie.
At least, the show went great, the audience was awesome, and we gave it all, no matter how mad we were at the time.
It's very exciting to be invited at these places, but please be careful with this, take care of your stuff too, In case you are playing with other bands. Hopefully You won't come across with something like this, but sadly a lot of places don't really cae about their own shows enough. They think it's as easy as just opening spotify and hit play.
It wasn't the first time and surely won't be the last. Have you guys ever had a bad experience as well? Are you willing to share it?
