Movie review - Bonhoeffer: Pastor. Spy. Assassin.

Comments

To quote Kevin Sorbo, I'm "dissapointed!". I mean I knew this wasn't going to be a historically accurate movie by any means but I was hoping they at least went over the top and gave it a sort of Inglorious Bastards or Wolfenstein 3d sort of feel.

Boomstick

Never heard of Bonhoeffer before watching this movie. Having heard all of these accuracies... I honestly wonder what the goal of the movie is supposed to be. It doesn't portray Hitler in a good light, it points out the many parallels of Hitler to Trump (being worshiped in church as if he's a new messiah or greater than God, having his own Bible, talking about the nightmare that is to come, etc.), it certainly shows what happens to the Jews. So... why get so much wrong? Why portray a pacifist pastor as if he had anything to do with an assassination attempt? Why have two important figures be portrayed on the opposite sides they were? Why portray the Suedes as people who needed to be bribed to take Jewish refugees? And how is this supposed to be taken by the Right as a reason to galvanize into action against the Left, as opposed to the staunch warning signs about Trump that it should be taken as? I'm just... really confused.
