Future Plans #33
Added 2024-12-01 02:01:31 +0000 UTCHey everyone!
This is the second last reward post for this month — my favorite excuse to ramble about my next upcoming game, Fate of the Celestial Mirror (xianxia otome/BL game)!
Today's highlight will be on the Inventory / Items system, one mechanic that you can't really opt out of even if you choose Story Mode (but can make it easier to manage).
Inventory

I can't remember if I've shown a screenshot of the UI for the Inventory before, but either way, this is what the Inventory screen looks like (which can also be accessed by pressing "I" on your keyboard)
I'll mainly focus on the few most interesting things about this screen/system!
1. Inventory Space
As you can see, in the middle long bar that divides the top and lower half of the screen, there's three bag icons with the numbers 7/28. What does this mean?
If you've played MMORPGs or any RPGs before that require bag management for space, you might be able to guess — yes, you have limited slots in your inventory! But you have 3 bag slots where you can equip a Storage Bag, which will then increase the Inventory's capacity! Different bags have different capacities, and you'll likely find that they get bigger as you progress through the story.
Not a fan of space management? No problem! You can toggle off Limited Slots directly, or it'll automatically get toggled off if you play the game on Story Mode. This will give you an infinite amount of bag slots, so you'll just see 7 / ∞ and your Inventory grid will only display items you possess without showing empty available slots.

2. Use / Equip Items
When you select an item in your inventory, sometimes, you may say that the Use and/or Equip buttons becomes available. Doing so will result in different effects based on the item. For example, if I used the Sect Welcoming Pouch selected in the first screenshot above, I opened it to receive new items — a furnace, an Equippable empty Storage Pouch to expand my inventory, and an identification badge that I proceeded to equip to my Belt Accessory slot!
Some equipped accessory items can affect your combat stats, which you can see to the right, but of course, if you have combat turned off, you don't have to worry about that.
However, equipped items can also trigger additional events or special dialogue — for example, if a love interest gifts you an item and you have it equipped when you speak to him next, he might just comment on it! 😉
Using items may sometimes also trigger additional scenes or dialogue, or even new hidden quests! But I'll show that off another time since this post is getting fairly long now.
Okay, that's all I've got to share for this time. Thank you so much for reading, and I can't wait to share more of the games' mechanics next time!
