Future Plans #30

Hi everyone!

For this month's future project preview post on Fate of the Celestial Mirror (my xianxia otome/BL game lined up after Reanimation Scheme), I wanted to highlight & show a small preview gameplay clip of a game mechanic I'm extremely excited for!

Card Combat (Optional)

As you may have noticed, this game is more of an RPG-VN hybrid, and yes, it comes with a turn-based combat system for the fights! After all, what kind of xianxia story would it be without some epic battles?

Now, if you're not a fan of combat mechanics, don't worry — you can completely toggle off the card combat system by choosing Story Mode at the start of the game, and instead, the battle would be replaced with a fight scene in VN text form.

But for those who may be interested in beating up some bosses personally... the game's combat uses a turn-based card combat system + deckbuilding, mixing in some general RPG mechanics such as having equipment that would affect your stats that boost your cards' power and being able to use items (with long cooldown) in combat. It's inspired by games with card combat, such as Potionomics, Slay the Spire, Griftlands, Knock on the Coffin Lid, etc. So if you're a fan of any of those titles, this combat system miiiiight tickle your fancy?

This is still in very early stages of development so there's a lot to finetune and tweak about the combat stats, animations, cards and so on. But still, I'm really excited to show off this test gameplay footage after Feniks did such an amazing job on coding the card combat system for this game!

This is all I have to show for now. Once I begin focusing on development of this game next year (after RS is released), I'll start working on the card design and balancing further, and hopefully I'll have more preview clips to show then.
