Script Snippet: [Reanimation Scheme - Aldrias] Mysterious Lady

Hey everyone!

Since this month was mostly spent on editing and polishing the current three beta routes based on beta feedback, the script snippet preview for this month is a little more boring — this is a small portion in Ch.14 of Aldrias' route that was rewritten to improve the foreshadowing & be more in line with the characters' personalities and reactions. 

If you've played the beta build before, you might be able to guess who this mysterious lady is. If not, any guesses on who? 👀

Warning: Slight spoilers ahead since, well, it is from Ch.14 of Aldrias' route after all.

We scatter, heading in different directions as we search. Time ticks by agonizingly, but still, we find nothing.

Then suddenly, a strange chill washes over me — but instead of leaving me with unease, I feel lighter, as if an unknown weight has been lifted off my chest.

My head snaps up, whipping around in search of the cause, and my gaze locks with a faint silhouette sitting up on a branch of the giant tree, her face half veiled by the lush leaves.

Holding my gaze, she smiles and points deliberately in a direction with one finger.

Raenelle: What — who —

I stammer incoherently at the sight of the pale figure, my hands flying to my eyes to rub at them. But before I can catch a better look at the woman, she's gone.

My exclamation of surprise draws my companions to my side, but judging by their expressions, neither of them seems to have seen the eerie lady that I did.

...Have I finally gone mad and started having hallucinations? Or perhaps... could it be a spirit?

Aldrias: Um, are you all right, Raenelle? Did you find something?

Raenelle: I saw someone just now. A beautiful lady.

Sebastien's green eyes narrow into a squint, disbelief written all over his face.

Sebastien: What are you talking about? There isn't anyone else here but us. Are you sure you aren't ill, Raenelle?

Raenelle: No, I tell you, I know what I saw! She was pointing over there too.

I jerk my thumb in the same direction that the mysterious woman was pointing towards, and Aldrias' and Sebastien's gazes follow dubiously.

Aldrias: Perhaps... it was a spirit that managed to escape? It could be a hint they wanted to give us.

Sebastien flicks his tail, a hint of skepticism lingering in his eyes, but he nods.

Sebastien: Let's look around that area then. It could be a sign either way.

My two companions resume the search in the new area, and I hastily join them.

Although I keep glancing back at the tree every so often, I don't see any trace of the lady anymore — as if the encounter was really all a figment of my imagination.

But the more I think about it, the more familiar the faint silhouette seem — as if I should know her, and her name is just on the tip of my tongue —

Aldrias: Over here! I think there's an underground tunnel of some sort.

All errant thoughts fly out of my head at the sound of Aldrias' call as he's the first to make a discovery.
