Script Snippet: [Reanimation Scheme - Kierdan]
Added 2023-04-28 14:54:39 +0000 UTCHey everyone!
If you saw my post announcing the beta phase for Lyrissa and Kierdan, you'll probably have heard that I was originally hoping to get Kierdan's chapters 4-6 up for Patreon by the end of this month. It looks like I need a little more time than expected due to some issues with the code, so I'll be delaying the release of his first three chapters to next month — probably sometime mid or late May along with Lyrissa's chapters 7-9 release. I'm really sorry about the delay — I've been dying IRL due to sorting out some issues with the taxes for the studio, so I didn't have enough time to polish up Kierdan's chapters 4-6 as I had hoped.
For now, I hope a small script snippet from Kierdan's route will tide you all over until next month!

Raenelle: "My lord?"
"His footsteps slow to a halt as he draws near, maintaining a socially acceptable distance between us. Then he holds out a small, worn leather coin purse to me — one that I had just spent five minutes refusing from the grateful mother."
Kierdan: "She wanted me to pass this onto you as a gift of thanks."
Raenelle: "Zianna, I told her I can't take this from her! Has she left yet? I need to go return it."
Kierdan: "You should keep it."
"I pause, my grip tightening on the pouch in my hand as I look at Lord Waven questioningly."
Kierdan: "It may not be much, but it is a token of her gratitude."
Raenelle: "I know, but her and her daughter need this gold much more than I do."
Kierdan: "It would make her feel less uneasy if you do."
Raenelle: "What do you mean?"
Kierdan: "If you refuse her gift, she will continue to feel indebted to you and be determined to find another way to repay you."
Kierdan: "It is better to simply accept her offering now."
"I bite my lip, my fingers toying with the string tied around the opening of the pouch."
"I suppose he has a point, but the fact that this comes from Lord Waven of all people gives me pause."
Kierdan: "You did well. You deserve the reward."
"My mouth falls open in surprise, my eyes darting to his. Am I hallucinating, or did I just hear Lord Waven compliment me for real?"
"Although I was just bragging to Sebastien about my incredible actions, something about receiving unlikely praise from Lord Waven brings my forgotten modesty back. Scratching the back of my neck, I give a light cough and shuffle my feet."
Raenelle: "...Thank you, my lord, but I only did what anyone would. And my interference was unnecessary anyway — you would have kept the child from harm regardless."
Kierdan: "Regardless, you still acted swiftly to aid the child. It was a commendable deed."
"I stare at him, half in a daze at this unexpected development of events, and he simply looks back at me with an impassive expression. Noting the lack of animosity in his voice, I decide to try my luck and ask tentatively."
Raenelle: "Does that mean you've finally accepted that I'm not the suspect you should be after?"
"Lord Waven pauses, folding his hands behind his back."
Kierdan: "Not quite. Those are two different matters."
