It’s possible that Katherine could have just by coincidence been created from a human that randomly coupled with a traveler line but I think it more likely the travelers were originally more a group of people or an ethnicity like gypsies. Not all travelers are powerful witches. So Amara wasn’t a witch but it doesn’t mean she wasn’t part of a traveler bloodline. The best way I can explain it is to use Nadia, she is Katherines bloodline but not everyone in that bloodline is a doppelgänger.

2021-05-11 16:49:38 +0000 UTCLibby I’m guessing Amara wasn’t a traveler at the start of season 5 I guess in episode 3 when Quetsiyah tells Stefan about her past her story she says that we - She and Silas belonged to a group of witches called travellers if I’m not wrong and amara was her handmaid so I’m not very sure if Amara was a traveler or not. Atleast they didn’t tell us.

2021-05-11 07:08:58 +0000 UTCI feel like you need one of my dot dot dot posts so here we go! The traveler thing has been playing out the entire season. Seriously since 5x1. Tessa/Silas are all parts of this. The original Silas and Amara were travelers prior to becoming immortal. . Now these Travelers earlier in the season said something about Katherine being their next target. Clearly that has to do with what is going on now. If they need only one set of doppelgangers alive then they would have needed to kill Silas, Amara, Katherine or Elena and now this guy Tom or Stefan. That's why the travelers showed up at the warehouse where Damon found the Amara statue. Anyways whether you noticed or not... this is all connected. (stupidly badly writtenly but connected) Lol on another note Liv just told the viewer and Bonnie (before the 'reveal') that it makes no sense that Bonnie thinks Liv is new. Liv says "How many newbie witches can say they did that" referring to the boundary spell that trapped Elena. IF Bonnie thought for like two seconds she'd remember how long and how much power it took from her as a newbie witch and there is now way Liv could have done that if she were new.
