Dude spent his human years being abused, lied to and manipulated by all his loved ones just to have the cycle continue in his vampire life. I’ve always found it interesting that every person on this show has done fucked up shit /has some type of messed up past... yet the writers seem to use Damon as the “bad” guy but mostly bc the people around him constantly make him feel like one.

2021-05-04 00:14:03 +0000 UTCi think everyone was pretty mad with the direction the writers decided to write Damon and Elena's relationship in this season. And while i 100% agree with u, i guess i do see how Damon could react that way. I mean since before and of course long after he and Elena got together, all anyone around them has been telling him and her is that Damon is bad for her and that being with him changes her as a person. After the encounter with Enzo, Damon was obviously in one of those self-hatred spirals and it doesnt help how everyone else reacts to their relationship. I think somewhere deep down he's starting to believe them and he's afraid of changing Elena.
