Weekly Post - Untimely Setbacks

Hi everyone,

First of, our apologies for the slightly delay. We almost forgot to write this week's edition of the weekly post... πŸ˜… Oops. This week; Delays in the upcoming update for the Gavril T-Series Expansion Pack are undesired, and an update on the Gavril T-Series Expansion Pack: Legacy Edition Patch reaching the BeamNG Repository, and finally, a wording change on a membership benefit.

Gavril T-Series Expansion Pack Delays

We hit a minor setback on the development of the Gavril T-Series Expansion Pack. Availability of time was lackluster for a little while which has pushed the release of the update back by a week. Not to worry, we'll release the early access on April 8th. This does have one side benefit though, it allows us to tease the update for a little bit.

Unforeseen Hitches with Gavril T-Series Expansion Pack: Legacy Edition BeamNG Repository Release.

While we contacted Car_Killer, the head of Mod Support at BeamNG, a week ago to help release the mod on the Repository due to its file size, we today got a message back with new information that we did not expect. It was very short though in short it means that there is a risk that instead of the update coming to the repository sometime this week, it might disappear from the repository altogether.

One word of advice, please respect the participants of the quoted conversation and don't address them.

From what I understand from your mod files, it's reuploading entirely an old semi-truck version. That is not allowed on the repository anymore. - Car_Killer

Our CEO, Gregory U, responded with the following:

That begs the question for me then: since when and why is this no longer allowed? Members of my organization and I checked the guidelines and we were unable to identify the line that claims it's no longer allowed. 🀨 - Gregory

Car_Killer's response was an informational one, but also one that made for more questions.

It is not directly in the guidelines, but for a year or two we are rejecting all mods that are directly reuploading official content from other versions to avoid spam. There were times when people would upload the same thing 10 times to the repository. As you might have noticed that thing disappeared. It's similar to loading screens in mods. They are either removed by us silently from mods, or we tell people to remove them and update their mods. - Car_Killer

While people might have mixed feelings about that, it is an answer which makes some sense. That said, it made our CEO question something else:

Aha, I see. I can see where that comes from. I wouldn't exactly call this mod a direct copy of the older T-Series, but moreso a heavily modified version of it. It is standalone from even the legacy T-Series due to the heavy modifications made. It has elements from the old T-Series, of course, though, at this point, far from the same vehicle the original used to be.

I remember that the mod was originally taken down back in August of last year because it overwrote game content... What if we, back then, decided to make the mod standalone? It would've looked the same as it does now, would it then still be allowed on the repository, even post-remaster? - Gregory

That was the last message sent in that conversation. While we may not be perfect, if they are rejecting mods failing those terms Car_Killer mentioned, shouldn't that be in their guidelines? Let us know what you think!

Membership Benefit Wording Change

We changed the wording on a benefit we provide here on patreon. As a matter of fact, it's directly related to the very benefit you're enjoying right now! Anyway, the benefit said "Weekly Work-in-progress Updates" which could be misinterpreted for weekly updates on our content. We changed it to Weekly Newsletter to more accurately represent the benefit it leads to.

Final Notes

Once more, we apologize for the slightly delay. We're all human, and sometimes we forget things. Thank you for your continued support and see you again next week! ❀️

Yours
- GTG Modding Team International
