(Not So) Weekly Post | Lack of Words
Added 2023-10-20 16:00:11 +0000 UTCHey there dear patrons,
In today's edition of the not so weekly post, I (yes, I) will be talking about a few things regarding GMTI as a whole. No content progress has been made since the last post, but for good reason. You could see this post more as a transparency report if you ask me.
Changes?
It has come to my understanding that particular members of the organization demand change. They want a less corporate structure. A less business like structure. They want a structure that resembles an actual team, like the olden days. I agreed to their proposed changes. Now, some of those changes are making me feel uncomfortable. I am therefore thinking and working on things behind the scenes that will help make my objectives for GMTI clear.
A Damaged Reputation?
It seems that the general public has a mostly negative opinion towards GMTI, and probably me personally, which is largely caused by 2 root issues:
TSEP replacing vanilla files; and
ur atrocious handling of GTSEP's removal by BeamNG.
I know I am not innocent with the first point. After all, it was my decision to replace those files. My goal was to make the Gavril T-Series into something it should have been in a way it would (probably) be done by BeamNG themselves, with the highest quality I can offer. This was a recipe for a disaster. I should've known that when I made that decision 3-4 years ago, and I should've acted on it when I realized my mistake a year after I did the fact. Instead, I did what I shouldn't have done, and it caused a lot of headaches to put it mildly.
With the second point, I am not entirely innocent either due to the point above, but here's how that chain of events went:
That faithful Sunday BeamNG removed GTSEP from the repo because they received complaints that the product was potentially game-breaking. The first thing I did was get emotional, right in the staff-chat. (Yeah, not my finest moment) after that, I informed the head of PR about the situation and then told him to keep it quiet until further notice (mind that we were hyping the racing add-on as well). People started to notice that the product was missing from the repo and after I informed the head of moderation, and also told him to keep it quiet, things escalated when he accidentally blurted out what had happened. I then and there decided to stand united with my fellow team members. After a little bit of back and forth, I stopped replying since the head of PR couldn't do his job because of it. At some point, a member of our staff said some things which the greater BeamNG community really did not like, and the damage was done. The next few days were purely damage control. Few weeks later, the in-house meeting followed.
I sincerely apologize for any of my wrongful behaviour, as well as that of my staff. That being said, I know I am getting a handful from my staff after this post... But that is a risk I am willing to take.
What is next?
Nothing! For now, that is. I am currently thinking & working on things behind the scenes so we have a solid footing to build upon. The trust that we lost with the community needs to be rebuilt, and that takes time. Some of the things I have in mind will likely be perceived negatively, but some probably also positively. I have an objective for GMTI as a business, and I intend to stick to it, however naive some people might think that is.
Good things as well as bad things are coming. That, I can 100% guarantee you.
Final Note
I hope this information finds you in good health, and I hope that you still trust us. Every. Little. Bit. Helps.
I shall write a post next week which should provide more information about what exactly we're going to do next.
Yours sincerely,
Gregory

Comments
Deleted previous comment as I made a mistake. Thanks for your kind words! Doesn't change the fact that what I did was wrong though and that I need to rectify that. I hope you know that you don't need to pay to use GTSEP! Thank you for your support though! -Gregory
GTG Mods Team
2023-10-21 05:11:23 +0000 UTCPersonally, I've never had any issues with your mod, it's one of the two mods I find pay worthy, (other one is DFA for obvious reason), I am a semi guy, and personally this is the best semi mod out there, and dare I say, you guys make the T series looks, sound, and drive better then American truck simulator makes their game (don't get me wrong I also love). Take your time do things the way you do. It's worth the wait.
