Weekly Post | Heated Week
Added 2022-07-23 15:59:01 +0000 UTCHey there dear patrons,
This week we do not have a lot of news. The GMT HQ was in the middle of a heatwave this week where temperatures inside the building have gone as high as 110°F (40°C) which is just too warm to be able to do anything. We're not used to these temperatures. Next week should be a lot more doable in terms of temperatures.
Heavy-Haul Trailer Pack
We have had some slight progress on this project (nothing worth showing though) and we have found some visual design flaws. We will work to remedy this next week. The improvements we'll make to the design should also make the trailer look stronger.
General Purpose Trailer Pack
We had some slight progress on this project as well. We're currently halfway through adding a tri-axle bogie. This might be a good time to explain how exactly the General Purpose Trailer Pack will work.
The General Purpose Trailer Pack will feature the following upon release:
- 48' Flat Bed Trailer
- 53' Flat Bed Trailer
- 48' Dry Van Trailer
- 53' Dry Van Trailer
- Single-Axle Bogie
- Tri-Axle Bogie
- Single Bogie Configuration
- Dual Bogie Configuration
The Single Axle Bogie and Tri-Axle Bogies will not work on the vanilla trailers. Not to worry though, as we have added copies of the existing vanilla trailers that are compatible. The difference between them has everything to do with the attachment structures for the bogies. The new bogies aren't compatible with the vanilla bogie attachment structure because of different sizes.
The 53' Dry Van Trailer will have its own skin set. Therefore, existing skin packs will not work on the trailer. Skins have to be converted to work on the trailer. If you think about it, it makes sense. The vanilla trailers are 48' trailers. If you put a 48' trailer skin on a 53' trailer, it becomes stretched. It is better to make the skin sets separate, like what we have done with the sleepers in the Gavril T-Series Expansion Pack. The end result is much nicer.
Single & Dual Bogie Configurations; what are those? Well, they basically allow you to select whether you want 1 bogie or 2 bogies on your trailer. A use case for this is for a quad axle where you have a single tri-axle bogie up front, and a single axle bogie in the rear, or a spread axle, where you have a single axle bogie up front and a single one at the rear. You basically pre-select the configuration in the parts menu, and then you select which bogies you want.
Gavril T-Series Recreational Vehicle
We do not have any progress on this subject. While had planned to make a start this week, the heat was simply too much to bear. The same applies to the 110" & 180" Sleeper Pack.
Final Notes
While this week was sort of disappointing for us in terms of progress, it did give us the ability to come to rest a little bit and look back on what we have done. A break in our busy lives is welcome at times. We hope to return next week with a lot more progress than this week, and hopefully show off the lowboy in all its glory with textures.
Stay tuned for next week!
Yours sincerely,
- the GTG Mods Team
