Haha, you called this one pretty early. Season 1, I will say, has a far more laid back vibe when it comes to lingering on death and disaster, at least to start with. But that's not an ongoing flaw with the series, so much as just a 'hey, let's drop in with a bang, and just not linger on Xander's potential inner tumoil because he's not the main character and we need to crack on with the plot' - because this was a midseason replacement, back in the day when 12 Episodes for a season was considered 'not enough' as opposed to now, when that's more than average lol.
