Hormones were not the same as feelings. Lena reminded herself of that during her daily slog through the mud to check on Kara in the barn. She liked Kara, and her libido made her sex dependent, but she created boundaries for a reason, and she was determined to stick to them.
Over the months, she came to dread making an absolute confirmation of a DNA match between Kara and her pup. If Kara was responsible for knocking her up, it could tarnish their arrangement.
Lena still experienced a little rage whenever she thought about the person who impregnated her. Kara would also have her own set of feelings about the situation, and Lena was reluctant to explore them without digging deeper first. Every time she thought about it, she talked herself out of mentioning her suspicions to Kara and turned to distractions to get by.
The winter snow and heavy rains had done a number on her farm, and she hired a contractor to build a much larger and better heated stable for her animals. None of that had to do with Kara’s influence or the fact that they were spending regular time together. Her nurturing instincts had just kicked in, and she developed several new hobbies to go with her country lifestyle — which included baking at least every other day for Kara, and caring for her chickens, sheep and horses like they were her own children. She even acquired a large collection of boots and borrowed flannel shirts from Kara’s closet.
For the most part, Lena settled in nicely, and although they never discussed the subject, it helped to live closer to Sam during the earliest stages of her pregnancy. As she came to the end of her first trimester, she realized that she looked almost no different than before, and that provided her with a little extra time to reveal her big news. It would happen eventually, and then Sam would begin her bombardment of questions. Lena wanted to soak in all of the stress free time beforehand.
She entered the barn to find Kara scattering grain for the chickens and watched her gently pet the closest ones on the head.
The silly birds flocked to Kara whenever she arrived. Lena could picture a pint-sized version of Kara believing she belonged among them. The thought brought a smile to her face, and she tried to wipe it off in case Kara got the wrong idea.
“How is everything going in here? Usually you're done by now.” It was a far cry from the gratitude Lena truly felt, and she relied heavily on her prior boss attitude to keep Kara at arm’s length. Fortunately, for the most part, it worked. If only she could maintain it for longer than five minutes at a time.
“Trying to get rid of me already?” Kara asked over her shoulder with a disarming grin. She flung the rest of the feed to the chickens and bent down to lift a basket she had thoughtfully filled with eggs to save Lena the trouble of hunting for them herself.
It would be awfully rude to confirm Kara’s teasing remark, and Lena shook her head with the overwhelming feeling that her attachment to Kara was no better than what the chickens felt while crowding her feet.
“Then who would eat the pancakes I made for breakfast? You know my appetite has only started to get better in the mornings. I can’t finish them all by myself.”
“Now there’s a job I’d be happy to tackle.” The laughter lines on Kara’s face added to her charm and she rubbed her stomach like she was just realizing she was starving. “I’ve got a long day ahead of me. All of Mr. Corben’s cattle are getting their hooves trimmed and he thinks one of them has an abscess.”
Lena must have turned a paler shade of herself because Kara’s humor fell away and she was by her side in three long strides. “Hey, sorry, I forget these topics can make people squeamish.”
Lena pursed her lips together as a defense against her morning nausea. It worked for about two seconds before she scrambled for the spare bucket behind her and gagged over it.
Kara moved her hair out of the way and rubbed clockwise circles over Lena’s back. “I’m sorry, Lena, I didn’t mean to set this off. I’m right here. I’ve got you.”
By the end of her last dry heave, Lena had tears of exertion on her cheek and a throbbing vein on her forehead. She pressed herself into Kara’s arms instinctively, and the long hug made her feel better.
“It’s fine,” Lena assured her with a suggestive arch of her brows. “You can just make it up to me at lunch. Maybe you could swing by McKay’s and pick up one of those platters.”
It alarmed her how fast she could go from retching violently to experiencing bizarre cravings. The pancakes lost their appeal and her appetite demanded ribs and fried pickles from a restaurant in town, but also peanut butter sandwiches, donuts, milk, and jerky dipped in ranch dressing. Before her pregnancy, she hated at least three items on that list, and never would have eaten them all as part of the same meal.
“Oh. I won’t be back in time for lunch today. I probably won’t get home until tonight around six o’clock.” Kara grabbed for her toolkit and headed outside to pack it into her truck.
Lena trailed after her helplessly and sulked at receiving that news. She never minded being alone before, but she had become accustomed to having Kara around either in the morning or afternoon. Even on busy days, they still ate lunch together and snuck in a quickie.
“Are you at least staying for breakfast?” Lena asked sharply, aware of the accusation in her tone even if it made utterly no sense to get so upset.
Kara wasn’t obligated to spend time with her, and Lena had made that clear from the start. They weren’t a couple, even if they spent hours a day together.
“Oh, I’m not skipping the best pancakes in town.” Kara laughed and detoured back to the house with a swagger.
Lena’s bad mood settled somewhat as she imagined Kara helping herself to the food and her cunt before heading out. She was in the middle of a fantasy of Kara bending across the table when she realized her neighbor wasn’t making herself a plate.
Confusion brought her brows together, and she was filled with the overwhelming sense of disappointment.
Kara stacked several pancakes into a Tupperware along with the fruit salad Lena had prepared. She chugged the cup of coffee waiting for her on the table and scooped eggs into her container with a satisfied smile plastered on her stupid face.
Lena watched on in silence as Kara stuck two slices of bacon between her teeth and grabbed a fork from the cutlery drawer. It was hardly a picture of domesticity, and Lena tensed at the absurd expectation that Kara would kiss her on her way out.
The lack of affection shouldn’t have been a problem, but it jarred her out of her shocked state. She stuck her head out the door just for Kara to wave to her and yell thanks.
Lena wondered why she felt like she had just been robbed.
This wasn’t how their routine usually went. Typically, Kara would linger about until Lena sent her off, and then they would go at it the minute Kara returned for lunch. Except that wasn’t happening today, and Lena resented Kara for disturbing their status quo.
“It’s not like I need her anyway,” Lena muttered under her breath and stormed off to clean the house in annoyance.
She wiped surfaces while she clenched her jaw and vacuumed with aggression.
This was why she didn’t want to go through with the DNA test. If she had to rely on Kara, it would only bring her misery, and Kara was obviously too busy to be involved with anyone, let alone a newborn.
Lena knew her thoughts were deranged and driven by hormones. She hated that instead of throwing all the laundry into the machine, she faltered and pulled out a shirt of Kara’s to huff at the flannel.
There was nothing quite so shameful as furiously masturbating with the Kara’s shirt beside her, except when she caught herself scrolling through her phone for a picture. The sight of Kara’s face was enough to get Lena off, and that left a bitter taste on her tongue.
Three orgasms and one mortified shower later, Lena was finally calmer and thinking straight. She had just been cooped up too long. She needed to get out of the house without Kara by her side.
Lena sent off a text to Sam to see if she would be interested in catching up over lunch. This was what she really wanted – time with her best friend, not some alpha himbo who did everything for her.
Sam replied much faster than expected with more enthusiasm than usual:
GOD YES. The girls are back in school and I finally have some time to myself!
I ate a real breakfast this morning instead of drinking an entire thermos of coffee and eating my kids’ crusty leftovers.
I waxed! Small animals have less hair than I removed from my body, Lena.
Lena dreaded ever reaching the point in parenthood where she wouldn’t have time for her own basic human needs. She cringed at Sam’s messages, and instead of acknowledging the horrors of having children, she made arrangements for their lunch date.
She planned to pick Sam’s brain about infant care under the guise of discussing a mutual friend who just had a baby. Whenever possible, she would also fling in a bunch of questions about Kara. Fortunately, Lena didn’t have to go out of her way to bring up either topic.
In between ordering and the arrival of their food, Sam mentioned their mutual friend. “Did you hear Alana had twins? I sent her an entire case of wine as a gift.”
“I thought you weren’t supposed to drink while breastfeeding?” Lena asked with an appropriate amount of caution in her voice.
It was one of the first things she had looked up in the pregnancy book Kara had dropped off. She was embarrassed by how depressed she felt upon finding that out.
“You’re not. By the time Alana gets through those months, that wine will be like an elixir from God.” Sam dramatically stared off into the distance to relive that time of sobriety. “You know I love my kids to death, Lena, but they were born years apart and they’re still a handful. Can you imagine having to deal with twins? The sleepless nights, the round the clock feeding, the screaming–”
“But it’s not all bad, is it? I mean you have two of your own, so you must have enjoyed something,” Lena stressed with a tightening knot of apprehension in the pit of her stomach.
She wanted reassurance that she would have some good moments to go along with the difficult milestones she would face alone – not to be hit with a dose of harsh reality.
“Yeah, the sex was awesome. If it wasn’t, I would have cut Alex off after having Ruby.” Sam laughed, her attention on the food and not the startled and desperate glint in Lena’s eyes.
“You’re joking?” Lena intoned in panic. She raised a brow as a waiter came over with four extra sides she had ordered.
“A bit,” Sam conceded and wiped her mouth with a napkin. “I mean, pregnancy is hard work, and so is caring for an infant. Once you’re past the cute stage, and you get over the terrible twos, and the kids start to develop a little independence… it’s—you know—worse.”
Lena vaguely hoped she had fallen asleep after getting off and this was all a vivid nightmare. She sipped at her fruit cooler and tried to make light of Sam’s perspective. “What do you mean it’s worse? You adore the kids.”
“Well, yeah, because they’re mine.” Sam gestured like the kids were running around nearby and not in school. “The minute they can walk and talk, suddenly half your day is spent herding them back to safety and away from plug sockets and cables and worms they find when you take them to the park. Hearing their first words is off-the-charts magical, but hearing it all day, every day for months afterward? It’s a form of torture nobody talks about with honesty. Sometimes I envy you, Lena. You have no idea how lucky you are.”
“Right. I have zero regrets that I’m single and childless.” Lena gulped her drink so fast that she could instantly feel pressure in her bladder, which was another fun side-effect of pregnancy that no one mentioned to her.
“I have to use the restroom,” Lena whispered, losing her voice right along with any hope that she would thrive or even survive over the next few years.
She stayed in the bathroom long enough for her unbearable nausea to switch to hunger pangs. At some point, her unbearable nausea switched to hunger pangs. The food cheered her up while her resentment towards Kara began to climb.
Kara wouldn’t have to deal with any of the repercussions of their one night stand. Their screaming newborn would never wake Kara in the middle of the night or require her constant attention. Kara wasn’t going to turn into a human-watermelon or experience any discomfort at all.
Lena slid back into her seat and took her aggression out on the fried pickles she ordered. She popped one into her mouth and the salty bitterness of the flavor summed up her feelings towards Kara.
“How are things with you and Alex, anyway? Are you able to juggle time for each other with your responsibilities for the kids?” Lena prepared herself for a negative take on marriage and long-term commitment.
“That was never our problem. Even through the exhaustion it was hard to keep our hands off one another, but now seeing how great she is with the kids?” Sam caught her lip between her teeth and blushed as she dipped her head in a rare instance of bashfulness. “I’d have a dozen more with her.”
The contrary answer bugged Lena, and she hunched forward with her elbows on the table to point at Sam with a chicken wing. “You just basically told me that parenting is a nightmare–”
“All life changes are difficult at the time, and you bet your ass sometimes I want to complain. The thing is, I wouldn’t go back and do it differently.” Sam’s features softened and she stared at Lena like she was trying to share a secret she had only just found out herself. “I have an alpha who adores me and two kids that I love unconditionally. Do I miss some aspects of single life? Yeah, and that’s normal. I wouldn’t trade this in for anything else in the world though.”
Lena bit into a piece of cornbread in disgruntled silence. Her best friend’s contradictions were hard to apply to her own situation. She didn’t have a mate—just a neighbor who could make her orgasm and shake like an evangelical experiencing a true miracle.
If Sam noticed that Lena did more eating than talking for the second part of their lunch, she never brought it up. They decided to walk to the nearby shops after they finished their meal, and that was how they landed on the topic of Kara.
“Hey, that’s Kara’s truck.” Sam spotted the vehicle parked along the road in front of a supply shop.
Two large balloons hovered in the backseat of the truck. On the seat rested a gorgeous bouquet of roses, sprigs of green, pink daisies and baby’s breath. A large cake box was positioned beside it to prevent both items from falling onto the floor.
Kara either lied about her whereabouts, or conveniently forgot to mention the several errands she would be running in the middle of the day. Lena choked on air as Sam reached the only logical conclusion:
“Oh, wow, look at all of that. Kara must be dating someone.” Sam reached into her pocket for her phone, snapped a picture of the evidence and fired it off to Alex. “What a relief. We’ve been so worried she would end up alone. She’s hot, but she isn’t the aggressive kind of alpha that most omegas are looking for—”
Lena must have tamped down her other senses so she could continue breathing through her devastation. She couldn’t hear or see, and Sam droned on about Kara’s shortcomings in the background.
It would have been easier to process her sadness if Kara hadn’t texted at the same time. Lena heard the ping and looked at the messages on her screen in a disembodied state of pain:
Hey, I won’t be able to come over tonight. Can you do me a big favor? I must have left my work gloves in your mud room by accident. Would you mind dropping them off?
Nothing bothered Lena more than returning someone’s belongings after sex. Even if she wasn’t emotionally invested in the person, it could be humiliating. She would fall apart if Kara’s date happened to be around at the same time.
“Sam, hey, I need to go. I forgot about an important phone call.” Lena croaked out the dumb excuse and jogged off to her car.
Sure enough Kara’s gloves were in Lena’s mud room, and she spent an extraordinarily long time staring at them when she returned home. She had the stubborn idea of pretending they weren’t there to save herself the trouble of being confronted with Kara’s active sex life that wasn’t exclusively revolving around her as she had hoped. If she lied, she could dump them in the trash and Kara wouldn’t be the wiser.
Lena was selfishly prepared to do it.
She held the gloves above the trash can with a sour expression on her face and almost dropped them into the stinky pile of leftovers and kitchen waste. Every time she got close to throwing them away, she was hit with a pang of guilt.
Kara had done so much work on her farm, tending to the animals and finding time to tend to her just as frequently. It wasn’t fair to punish Kara for looking for a mate, even if their one night all those months ago meant it would be impossible for Lena to find someone of her own with a pup on the way.
But it was rage that put her feet in motion instead of guilt — the unequivocal, self-righteous anger of being cast aside for another, despite Lena’s firm stance on keeping Kara at a safe, non-dating, distance.
She stormed out of the house with the gloves clenched in her hand and damn near took Kara’s door off its hinges with how firmly she knocked.
If she was interrupting a date, then so be it. Kara wanted the gloves, and Lena wanted nothing to do with her after returning them.
She rehearsed a speech in her mind to sound cool and unaffected, and made sure the top three buttons of her shirt were undone for maximum weaponized cleavage.
Lena stuck her tits out the second Kara answered the door. She got no further than thrusting the gloves under Kara’s nose, because the alpha stepped aside to welcome her into the house.
“Lena, hi, thank you!” Kara beamed in gratitude, and her endearing smile cut through Lena’s animosity faster than she would ever acknowledge. “Please, come in. I know we usually eat dinner at your place, but I wanted to surprise you.”
“Surprise me?” Lena stupidly repeated and kept her guard up in case an omega jumped out to make introductions. She wandered into Kara’s home where the balloons she saw earlier were displayed in the living room alongside a few wrapped gifts, the bouquet of beautiful flowers, and a cake with a generic Congratulations scrawled across it in icing.
“With a baby shower!” Kara proudly announced and ushered Lena over to the couch to hand her a gift. “I ordered a few things online because—well—people like to talk in small towns, and I didn’t want to give them a reason to gossip. At the same time, I didn’t want you to miss out on having a baby shower just because nobody knows. You’re entering your second trimester now, so I thought why not throw it myself?”
Lena sat in a humble and repentant slump and opened the first present. Beneath the yellow wrapping was a large box with a soft set of farmyard pals – a spring fawn with its mother, a fluffy chicken and a brown hen, and a foal with a mare. Tucked in next to them was a whole family of cows, and a pink pig with three little piglets.
It turned her to complete goo. Lena considered locking down a relationship with Kara on the spot. Out of fear, she bolstered her emotional defenses and used sarcasm as her shield.
“You know everyone’s going to find out that I’m pregnant soon, right? I might be able to hide it for a while longer, but eventually my belly will give me away. Even if the townsfolk around here don’t figure it out, I’m sure they’ll notice the tiny human I bring home.”
“At that point, I would be happy to host another baby shower for you, or maybe even just a small family gathering so you can introduce the baby to everyone.” Kara picked up another huge gift and moved it in front of Lena’s knees.
Lena stuck each of the large sticky bows to Kara’s shirt. “The downside is that you can’t take your clothes off at a party like that.”
Kara raised her brows like she had been hit with a wonderful idea. She waited while Lena tore the gift wrap off a large play mat that came complete with dangling frames to entertain and educate a newborn, then casually began unbuttoning her shirt. “I can take them off at this one. Should we see who can unwrap the fastest?”
The flirtatious banter irritated Lena – not because it was cheesy, but because of how desperately she wanted to return it.
Her guarded heart wouldn’t allow her to slip up and risk exposing herself to the potential complications of a relationship.
Lena saved herself with a well timed raised brow and haughty attitude. “Are you saying you consider yourself a gift?”
Kara became flustered just as Lena had intended. She abandoned her task of getting naked to flap adorably. “Ah, no, I was just–”
“Losing the race?” Lena deadpanned and ripped open three other gifts in quick succession.
She barely glanced at the baby bottle selection, breast pump or the little star night light. While tearing into another package, she watched as Kara exposed her own.
Well, not quite.
Kara’s jeans were stuck beneath her knees and her tight briefs perfectly cupped her cock and kept it concealed from Lena’s ogling eyes.
Their competition reached an interesting finish when Kara kicked off a boot and sent it soaring across a table. It took a vase of flowers and a remote for the TV with it, and neither of them seemed remorseful.
Lena pulled her cozy sweater off and glanced down at the pale blue lace that covered her tits. She massaged them and her nipples strained against the warmth of her hands. “I’ve been even more sensitive today since you left this morning without touching me.”
Guilt-tripping could be a flirtation with a sexy pout on her lips.
Kara moved in closer to remedy her mistake and cradled Lena’s breasts in both hands. For once, they went slow, and Kara thoroughly rubbed into the responsive little buds — tweaking and playing until she pulled Lena’s bra straps down. She bent forward on her knees and sucked each nipple as they slipped out from behind the lace.
“I’ll never leave the house again without doing this first.” Kara nosed into her cleavage and latched onto each small peak with a seductive pressure that tugged.
They stared into each other’s eyes for too long, and Lena followed the invisible force of attraction between them that made their mouths mingle and separate. Lena gasped against Kara’s lips, fixated on them and the love that each kiss revealed to her.
She exhaled harder to exorcise those feelings from her chest, but Kara nuzzled her and came back for more. Their kiss became more carnal, and arousal sank through Lena like a lead weight.
I’m having your baby. You did this to me, Kara. I don’t regret it.
“Nothing turns me on more than the way you kiss.” Kara opened the hook at the back of her bra and slipped it off.
They both stood up and Kara moved her underwear down to free her rock solid shaft. Kara worked the button open on Lena’s jeans, and they shoved them off together, pulling her slick-coated thong aside in the process.
Kara laid her out across the soft couch cushions and slid her palms up the pale divide of Lena’s inner thighs to hold them apart. She remained on her knees and traced the heated contour of Lena’s pussy lips with the pad of her thumb before following the natural parting with her tongue.
Over the months they shied away from doing this together. It was almost an unspoken rule due to the intimacy of the act.
The first real swipe of Kara’s tongue made a fool of Lena, because she arched upward, pressing her mound harder into Kara’s wanting mouth with a groan of decadence.
“How could you have kept this from me?” Lena rasped, drunk on the pleasure of Kara’s talented lips puckering around her aching clit.
Kara responded with a series of fast flicks and lighter, teasing flutters that skimmed the partition of Lena’s cunt and pushed straight into her twitching entrance.
The insistent probing caused Lena’s knees to bracket Kara’s head, and she undulated, unable to stay still. She didn’t mean to grab a fistful of Kara’s hair. It happened without any forethought, and she moved against Kara’s face with faster breaths that broke with short moans.
Lena understood how to keep herself closed off during a random hook up. It was in the same vein as completing a business transaction, but this melted the lines. Her quivering thighs framed Kara’s face, and in turn Kara groaned out encouragements. Kara commanded her every move with the tip of her tongue.
The orgasm could have shattered her. It came on strong and curled her toes and spine.
Kara made the raunchiest of sounds as she sucked on her clit, then pulled back to slide into Lena’s convulsing heat.
Lena hooked her arms under her legs and spasmed around Kara’s large wet tip. She knitted her brows together in concentration and let her pleasure ebb and flow with the motions of Kara’s cock.
“I messed up this morning. Didn’t I?” Kara latched onto her hips and pushed through the heated restriction inside. “You wanted me to stay and eat with you.”
“I wanted you to stay and break another table.” Lena kept her upper body curled and her lower half flat against the cushions.
The sofa creaked as Kara’s strokes reached an optimum speed for rubbing the little contours inside Lena’s pussy. The tight ripples created more slipperiness that made it easier to merge.
Kara bragged with her thrusts as much as her words. “We both know it’s not just about the sex. You like having me around. Admit it.”
Lena had too much pride to swallow it down and tell the truth. Her lip quivered in reluctance and scoffing barely saved her. “Fine, I like having a strong alpha around to take care of me. I’m just a poor weak omega. What would I ever do without you?”
Mocking their relationship didn’t match up with her actual feelings towards Kara - and that came across in her bad intonation, her body language, and her pathetic pheromones. She flexed her legs higher to block out the softness on her face and gave Kara something else to focus on — the glistening crest between her thighs that tightened and massaged the seed from Kara’s shaft.
Her rude attitude pushed Kara to a climax like never before, and Lena could only guess it was because they both knew it was an act.
The powerful throb in Kara’s shaft no sooner stopped than she pulled out to position Lena on her knees across the ottoman. She smoothed her palms across Lena’s ass and up, to the curve of her spine where it began to dip. Kara encouraged her down with a heavy hand and slotted straight back into her messy entrance.
“I doubt you’ve ever needed anyone in your life, but I like getting to be part of yours, even if we don’t define it. It’s still better than any relationship I’ve ever had.” Kara huffed against her neck, her lips scant inches from the one place she would never be permitted to bite. She mounted Lena fully, her entire body resting above Lena’s to hold her in a mating bend for a deeper, satisfying rut.
Lena wanted it right then. Whether from the honesty or the fluctuating hormones that coursed through her pleasure, she craved the sting of Kara’s teeth. It became an unbearable obsession, and the more she tried to block it out, the more vivid the phantom sensation became, and she caught herself offering her neck.
“You know I don’t need you to be soft with me. You’re thinking with the wrong head. Stop it.”
The harshness of her demand was all for show, and the rest came from her sharp exhalations. It was bad enough her own omega was trying to undermine her with sweet sentimentality. She couldn’t cope with Kara’s being piled on top of it, too.
She backed into the perpetual slam of Kara’s hips and groaned as they both took their irrepressible feelings out on her cunt.
Kara switched tactics, and the underlying romance came second to their carnal greed. She grabbed at Lena’s tits to palm them firmly and flicked at her nipples as she sped up her thrusts. The plump head of her cock pushed Lena to her internal limits and seed dripped from her.
“You just want to come, right, Lena? Your pussy feels really wet to me. Something I said must have gotten you this hot.” Kara brought two fingers between them to glide over Lena’s clit, and the slick sound of their mating carried through Lena’s loud moans.
Pleasure glazed her thighs and Kara’s knot alike. She locked her jaw, fighting against Kara’s cajoling touch and an orgasm that could make her more vulnerable.
“All I need is for you to fuck me harder.” Lena gasped as the ottoman moved under her, rocking as Kara fulfilled her request. “Yes, like that. Oh god, oh fuck—”
The legs on the furniture scraped across the wood floor, and Kara’s fingers pressed into her venus dimples, holding her in case she fell forward. The blood rushed to her face, and her pussy clamped from Kara’s aggressive thrusts.
“I bought you some lingerie today. I want to see you in it. You can wear it to bed tonight after you take my knot.” Kara nuzzled into the side of her neck without breaking speed and dared to bite down mid tremble.
Lena would have dropped all of her rules if Kara did more than nip. Kara dominated her without trying and massaged her cunt into ongoing orgasm. The onset flustered her, and she moaned sinfully from start to finish. Her inner spasms pushed out Kara’s ropy seed. She reached the ceiling of her pleasure and still wanted to go again.
“And why would I do that?” Lena rasped, appalled by the fact that she wasn’t immediately turned off by the gesture.
Lingerie was meant for couples and long time mates, not friends with benefits or overly generous neighbors oblivious to knocking her up.
Lena tried to harness the bitterness of her situation and failed with a pathetic whine on her lips when Kara pulled out.
The loss devastated her omega and she was on the verge of pouting. Not that Kara seemed to notice, she was too busy hauling Lena off the ottoman to bring her onto her lap.
“I know you like feeling sexy. It’s why you get dressed up when I say I’ll stay for dinner. It turns you on that I can’t look away.” Kara whispered her confident assessment against Lena’s lips. She looked pleased with herself, if not a little arrogant, and brought Lena onto her cock to sink down.
Spite rolled Lena’s pelvis like a stormy ocean, and she rocked Kara with the force of her undulations. One of them was destined to come undone, and she sure hoped it would be Kara. “Maybe I just like making an effort to look good. You could try it sometime.”
The snarky comment brought a smirk to Kara’s face and she bucked upward to grind herself into Lena’s clit. The thick girth of her cock rubbed every rippled striation of Lena’s cunt, and she waited for the moment that Lena’s eyes glazed to rumble, “Oh yeah? Should I trade in my flannels for something nicer, Lena? I’ll do it if you wear the things I bought.”
Lena’s mind tricked her into thinking of Kara in a clean pressed shirt and tie. No work jackets or jeans or muddy boots. It was horrendously effective on her, and her cunt contracted in response to the fantasy.
“Deal,” Lena grunted, too drunk on pleasure to care if she would regret the choice later when Kara’s knot-base was beginning to swell. “But I want you in a suit.”
She missed the delight on Kara’s face, and the knot locked them together in that position, so she didn’t have to look at the smug joy that remained long afterward. The wide knot ached inside her, stretching her inner lips with its heat, and she cuddled back with her head on Kara’s chest.
“Knotting feels good when you’re in this position. Definitely something I want to do again.” Kara curled her arms around Lena’s waist for the duration.
“You’re making a lot of demands tonight. What’s gotten into you?” Lena rubbed her clit with idle interest and clenched in lingering spasm.
Kara moved intentionally to slide deeper. She leaned forward to pepper Lena’s throat with kisses and sucked on a spot she avoided before. “I thought we had an agreement, which includes openly communicating about our desires.”
Lena couldn’t bring herself to argue with Kara’s breath close to her claim. “We do.”
They snuggled on the couch with the television on in the background, and Kara re-positioned herself to kiss Lena on the lips. All throughout the months of sleeping together, they had spent a lot of nights binge watching Netflix, doing puzzles, and eating take-out. It reminded Lena of her years in college and hanging out with her roommates. This time felt different, and Kara nuzzled her more often.
Once the knot softened and Kara’s shaft began to lose some of its rigidity, they both conveniently forgot to move. Kara caressed her until her emotions were no longer clouded. They were being recklessly intimate, but Lena enjoyed being wrapped up in Kara’s strong arms.
“So, are we eating that cake or was it just a display model?” Lena asked with pursed lips and narrowed eyes she trained on Kara.
Kara pressed a kiss to Lena’s shoulder before carefully standing her up. “It’s chocolate. I just didn’t want to disrupt you too soon.”
They lifted their clothes from the mess on the floor and lazily dressed themselves. While Lena brought the cake into the kitchen to cut thick slices for each of them, Kara gathered up her gifts and disposed of the wrapping paper.
“Before we eat, there’s something else I want to show you.” Kara motioned for Lena to follow her down the hall to a spare room.
“What is it?” Lena asked, fraught with tension from the unknown.
She didn’t expect Kara to cover her eyes with a warm hand or guide her through the door – nor did she expect the beautiful wooden crib she found on the other side.
“I made this myself.” Kara ran her hand over a sturdy panel with birds carved into the natural finish. “Do you like it? I figured getting one delivered would tip everyone off, and I’m pretty good with my hands, so this became a little passion project.”
An appropriate response would have been to thank Kara, or gush that she loved the crib and that it was the most thoughtful gift anyone had ever made for her.
Lena pushed Kara against the wall and slipped onto her knees to express her gratitude differently. She opened the fly on Kara’s jeans and pulled her cock out. The thick tip still dripped with seed and veins strained over the shaft. Pushing her mouth onto the wide glans whetted her palate for the taste of their lovemaking.
It was so much easier to wrap her lips around the tip than to ever wrap her head around the fact that Kara cared so much — even without knowing that the pup was potentially hers.
“Lee-nuh, god, that feels amazing–”
If the sound of Kara’s front door opening hadn’t broken the moment, Lena would have sucked her to completion. She barely gasped for breath when Alex called out for Kara, and the sound of Sam ushering the kids inside prompted Lena to zip Kara’s jeans so fast she almost caught her in it.
“Just-just a minute!” Kara blurted, her libido crashing as they both hurried to fix themselves before anyone walked in on them.
“Where are you and why does your place look like it’s been ransacked?” Alex yelled from the living room, where the smashed vase and flowers still lay scattered.
“I was—ah—giving Lena a quick tour of the place.” Kara shut the spare room where all of the incriminating evidence of Lena’s pregnancy was tucked away. She grinned wider than naturally acceptable as she faced her sister.
Sam spotted the cake and floating balloons and whipped around to interrogate Lena with her eyes.
Alex followed suit, and her lips twitched with the suggestion of a long lecture. “Kara—"
“Lena must be your best friend now,” Ruby burst out in excitement, taking off her small mittens and hat. “She’s always here or you’re at her house.”
Lena dropped her hands onto her niece’s shoulders and shielded herself with Ruby’s cuteness. “You’re right. We’ve become close friends. In fact, Kara bought me a cake to celebrate our friendship. Would you like to have some?”
“Yes, I want two pieces!” Emily demanded and flung herself face-forward at the sugar. “I wish all of my friends would buy me cake.”
“No, you don’t,” Sam chastised with a grunt she directed at Lena. “Cake like this should only be shared between two people who plan to remain friends for a very long time. We’re all practically family. It would be horrible if Auntie Lena decided she didn’t want to be friends with Aunt Kara anymore.”
“That’s not going to happen.” Kara dropped her hands onto her hips to intervene. “We’re capable of being civil if we change our minds about our friendship.”
Lena moved her nieces to a safe distance in the kitchen where they could eat out of hearing range. Emily hopped up and down the whole way and Ruby rolled her eyes at her little sister.
She cut thick slices of cake for everyone and poured the kids a glass of milk each before plating the extra pieces. The coward within her wanted to remain in the kitchen while Kara handled the tension with Alex and Sam, but she cared too much to do that.
With a plate in each hand and a forced smile on her face, Lena chose to face the consequences of her actions by Kara’s side. She walked back to heated whispers of accusation and the stench of Kara’s defensive pheromones.
Alex looked furious, and Lena ignored her as she sidled right up to Kara and offered her some cake. “You had better try this before the girls demolish it. I cut you the biggest slice.”
Kara’s grin could have disarmed anyone, except for the pair of judgmental faces across from them. Sam stole the plate out of Kara’s hands and Alex swiped the other from Lena before she tried to derail the lecture.
“No cake for either of you,” Sam snapped and held the plate out of Kara’s reach by bending backward. “What the hell were you two thinking?”
“Well, for starters, that it’s none of your business,” Kara sassed and settled a hand on her hip to maximize her attitude.
Lena shouldn’t have found it funny or attractive, and yet she grinned at Kara’s stonewalling and blinked at her best friend. “What she said.”
Sam exhaled in exasperation and turned to silently communicate with Alex to deal with her sister. On cue, Alex crossed her arms and tried to pull Kara aside.
Kara shook her head and refused to budge. “Look, you’re the ones who keep telling me I need to get out more and meet new people. Lena’s the newest person in town.” She justified their actions without over complicating it and shared a grin with Lena to keep the mood light.
Lena thought they were being slick, and even extracted the smallest delight out of teaming up with Kara.
Alex sagged and freed her arms to hang by her sides. “Okay, I’m just going to come out and say it. It’s very obvious what you were doing before we showed up. What is your plan? Is this serious between you?”
“Why does it have to be serious? Why can’t we just be two consenting people having a good time?” Lena knitted her brows in a disquieted glare.
Her friends didn’t have old-fashioned values about sex, mating and marriage. This came down to issues of trust, and Lena sensed they were worried about broken hearts and future awkwardness around the holiday dinner table.
Alex and Sam took the route of good cop-bad cop when it became apparent that neither she nor Kara was willing to divulge the kind of information they were fishing for with their questions. They unilaterally focused all their attention onto Kara like they assumed she would be easiest to crack and laid it on thick with hypotheticals.
“You’re laughing now, but what about the future?” Sam asked with pursed lips and a tension across her brow. “You want kids, Kara, and a mate to come home to at night. Are you sure Lena wants any of those things? You’ve been single for years. Instead of hooking up with someone outside of our close family circle you choose the God parent to our kids?”
Lena had only seen this side of Sam in the boardroom, and it surprised her to witness Kara on the receiving end of her frustration.
Kara barely flinched, but that was enough for Lena to know it struck a chord within the alpha. She didn’t care how it looked to their friends as she held out her hand to stop Kara from responding. “I moved my entire life here, and I can live it how I please. You’re acting like we’ve committed a crime by enjoying ourselves.”
“We’re just concerned that neither of you are thinking clearly. How long has this been going on?” Alex pressed, as if it was any of her business to know those
details.
Lena’s scoff gave nothing away and Sam applied pressure to Kara’s soft heart by whispering, “You know the kids adore Lena. If things get sour between you, it’s going to affect them the most. I know you, Kara. You’ll hide from any event Lena attends if this doesn’t work out, and then Lena will stop showing up because she’ll notice. Nothing will be the same. Is that really a risk you want to take if feelings get hurt here?”
“Are you both forgetting we’re adults who know how to communicate with each other?” Kara raised her brows as she waited for an answer and postured with her fists on her hips.
Lena locked her glare onto her closest friend with the hope of wheedling a resolution out of her. “What exactly would make you both happy? Do you want us to stop spending time with one another?”
Sam caved from the hard-hitting questions and reached for Lena’s hands. “No, honey, of course not. I just can’t help but worry about you and how this will progress.”
“What if we fall in love?” Lena asked from a place of devil’s advocacy and regretted how her stomach twisted in punishment. “I’m not saying we will, but we’ve become good friends. I don’t have any reason to believe that we would want to avoid each other indefinitely.”
Her persuasive manipulation ended the argument, although as Lena stood in the center of everyone, she felt the opposite of the victor.
Sam seemed suspiciously close to hugging her, and Kara gaped at her in wonder and longing. Lena could only stand to look at Alex, who understood how to be more aloof with her emotions.
For the rest of the night, Lena hung out with her nieces and didn’t give anyone else the chance to initiate conversations with her. She fell asleep on the couch in the middle of Encanto and Kara covered her with a blanket.
Around four in the morning, Lena realized she was no longer snoozing near her family on the sofa. She opened her eyes in Kara’s bed to find herself wearing an oversized shirt for pajamas.
Kara was sprawled out next to her with her arm curled around a pillow. Lena considered slinking away and walking home in the dark. She wanted the familiar surroundings of her own bed but disentangling herself from the comforter would just wake Kara.
She settled back down facing her neighbor and friend and moved some of the blonde hair away from her pillow.
“I’ve never broken so many of my own rules before,” Lena whispered under her breath, her thumb grazing Kara’s cheek bone under the cover of darkness where it was safe to confess how she felt. “I’m afraid I’ll come to regret it, but I’m starting to think you’re worth the risk.”
“I am,” Kara murmured without opening her eyes and frightened the hell out of Lena.
“I thought you were asleep!” Lena hissed and recoiled so fast she nearly toppled off the bed. Kara’s quick reflexes stopped that from happening, and she glared at the alpha through the shadows. “I take back everything I said.”
“No, you don’t. You meant every word. Now come here so I can spoon you.”
Even in the dim light Kara’s grin was obvious, and Lena discovered she was still a sucker for it.
“Okay, but I’m not in love with you,” Lena clarified with a flick of her fingers and then rolled back into the warm spot beside Kara. “Just to clear up any confusions.”
Kara threw the covers over her and pressed into her backside while huffing against her neck. “I appreciate you doing that. I wouldn’t want to have any misconceptions about how you feel.”
Lena tucked her legs up and shut her eyes, grateful that her argumentation tactics hadn’t created any frictions between them. She dozed off after getting in the final word on the matter. “Of course not. Honest communication is the best policy. It’s why this whole arrangement works for us.”

Thank you!! 😁 I actually considered beginning the story with THE night in question, but then I worried that would make it seem like Lena should remember the identity of the person who knocked her up. But there might be room for a flashback in a few more chapters!! ☺️
2023-02-12 11:13:52 +0000 UTCI absolutely LOVE this story and it’s quickly becoming one of my all time favorites, which is quite the accomplishment because how amazing *all* your stories are, but I’m definitely gonna need a flashback at some point about THE night in question and how it went down. 😜🥵🥵
2023-02-10 13:26:43 +0000 UTCThere's a fun level of complication to this story. 😂 And talking isn't their strong suit, despite Lena's insistence that communication is key, but they're gonna work on that... ☺️ Thank you and I hope you're doing great, staying well and living your happy, best life! 💙❤️
2023-02-07 13:47:45 +0000 UTCFox Heaven. 😂 I'm happy you're enjoying the story! It was definitely a more complex prompt that needed a few chapters. So many stories to write, so many things I want to continue. Thank you!
2023-02-07 13:42:36 +0000 UTC😂
2023-02-07 13:40:56 +0000 UTCAlex would need beer when she finds out. Lots of beer. Lots. And lots. Of beer.
2023-02-07 11:39:01 +0000 UTCI’m really enjoying how this story is progressing Kara and Lena are both still horny idiots in love. I just hope they both have a chance to talk about how their relationship has changed and how Lena suspects (hopes) Kara is her baby daddy. It’s going to be really entertaining to see how you flesh that out once they do have that conversation. For now thank you so much for this great update. Hope all is well and you are living your best life as always 💙❤️🤩👍🏻👍🏻🤩
2023-02-04 18:20:47 +0000 UTCAlso author thank you so much for continuing this story. When this smutty hallmark prompt won the poll I died, went to fox heaven, then came back to life 😂
2023-02-04 18:00:24 +0000 UTCOh. KARA KNEW. KARA FRICKING KNEW THE BABY IS HERS. *screams*
2023-02-04 17:57:31 +0000 UTC☺️ Kara's making sure to celebrate even though Lena is keeping it a secret. Sam's flashbacks are like a disclaimer on the box of breeding kink for Lena. But she's already knocked up. Lena will get some time to appreciate the workmanship of Kara's gift later. I thought it would be the most Kara thing to do, making something personal and unique! Sam and Alex are going to continue to worry and maybe do a little meddling. 😁 Kara is at the very least cooperating with the rules while also doing some VERY girlfriend-like things. Thank you!!
2023-02-04 11:21:57 +0000 UTCYou win with this call out post. 😂 They're all deluding themselves. I think Kara's goal was to surprise her, both because surprises can be fun and because Lena is stubborn and might be like, "no baby shower" - Lena, though - 👀 She's really doing some mental gymnastics.
2023-02-04 10:59:42 +0000 UTCOh yeah, all four of them. Thank you! ☺️
2023-02-04 10:57:02 +0000 UTCI’m goo I’m absolute goo melted on the floor KARA THREW HER A BABY SHOWER GGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! I mean fucking lol at Sam’s flashbacks of the war of parenting she’s living but I’m just melted at the idea of Kara throwing her a surprise baby shower AND THEN MAKING A CRIB BY HAND??? FUCK if that’s not the most romantic thing I’ll eat my hat. Sam and Alex playing good cop/bad cop to make sure they’re not gunna get themselves hurt is very sweet in their way but ohohoho Kara’s got Lena’s number. She knows for sure what she wants and I’ll be she knows what Lena doesn’t want to admit she wants too. I’d even bet Kara’s done the math if maybe figuring it’s her baby but also Kara’s just a sweetheart like that and that’s what we love about her. Knocked the socks off of this one you did
