Post surgery, my cat Jamie is doing OK...

Unfortunately, my cat's ongoing issues with his right eye has resulted in him having to have surgery, on Monday, to remove the eye.

I noted in the pre-release STL drop for the new SFI-140B Wespe, he had a pretty rough time of it last weekend, resulting in him ending up in the surgery to remove the eye. During the summer he had been experiencing slightly elevated pressure in the right eye, that had been managed by vet prescribed eye drops, but over the past weekend his right eye went south rapidly and the pressure had apparently become serious. It was surgery or eventually the eye would rupture, while it wasn't an outcome I wanted for him, the choice was obvious.  As grim as all of this sounds, I'm happy to report, he's been home recovering, since discharge Tuesday and has been doing quite well. This, of course, changed all priorities last month, monitoring the situation as it developed and to trying to get him the help he needed; an appointment to a veterinary ophthalmologist. Getting that appointment seems pretty straightforward, but as you'll learn, it unfortunately wasn't.

While I did post about his issues with his right eye once before in July, I haven't posted about it prior, because while it has been an off and on issue with him, it hadn't become as serious as it did once he scratched his eye, back in July, though it has been a rather ongoing and stressful concern much of the year.  Additionally, it goes without saying that writing about something like this isn't always fun, but this story does have a happy ending; Jamie is home, happy, and recovering.

In broad strokes:
Jamie has, been in and out for the past 3 years, of a couple of primary care vets, both of which have done a fine job taking care of him. However, both could not determine the cause of his issues with the eye. It started, in 2021 in the height of the pandemic, so getting him into a vet was... well, difficult. All of the vets, in my local area and most even further out were backed up weeks to months. This is an issue here still with some specialists; he was supposed to see an ophthalmologist vet. He never made it, they were all backed up with appointments (several weeks to as far as over a month). So not being able to get him in to be seen, in a timely fashion, didn't help the situation. Ultimately I was able to bypass having to wait for weeks to get him to an ophthalmologist by taking him to an animal emergency hospital. The emergency hospital was pretty backed up as well but they did take him in, and after waiting 6 hours (did I say they were backed up) to find out what was happening, it turned out he needed that surgery and I made the right call to bring him there.

None of this was particularly fun but I'm glad I got him there in time. If I had been stuck waiting for that appointment with the ophthalmologist, his eye would have... well, it would have been pretty bad as I covered above. So, yeah, 2023 has been a bit of a year and there was a lot I wanted to do (for the Patreon especially) that I wasn't able to. Not letting it bog me down, not that kinda guy. I'd rather focus on recalibrating and getting things to where I wanted and I feel they need to be. Additional, even though it has consumed much of my time the mystery Palladium gig has been a good thing, as it's kept things afloat and will allow me to continue with the printing in the long run.

So, for September, I'll get new stuff out, as I can. There will be more STLs (Ill be running tests of more mini size versions of the fighters in the next few days, so those will likely show up as STL drops soon), more painted prints, art, and whatever else I can get to, but it'll drop when it drops. The good news is with Jamie, on the mend, and the issue with his eye ultimately resolved, this, I certainly hope, will no longer be a stressful and incredibly time consuming thing to have to deal with and pull me away from doing things I need to do and thing I love to do, such as the Patreon work.

And speaking of new stuff to drop, along with the photo of Jamie, post surgery, I've also included another peek at some photos of the new paints; the TE-62 Navaja B, the new TE-65A-2 Sharurä A.I. gunship, and the (only one I have printed so far) large build volume 1/100 scale Saturn S print of the Stiletto C-1. I'll have more photos of these to follow.

For continuing to grow this endeavor with the 3D printing the summer, didn't quite go as planned. Life and other pressing obligations with outside freelance unfortunately (or fortunately, as I said before have to keep the lights on, or no printing at all) happened. Again, rather than feel defeated, I'm eager to just keep at it, and keep producing the work, because I really love doing all of this stuff. We're still here and we'll still be making stuff and offering it here on the Patreon.

As always, I think you for the support and interest in the work! Stay tuned and I wish you all a great weekend!
