Yes, finally I can reveal what has kept me so busy the past few months; I have been toiling away on the color work for this remastered re-release of the original 80s Palladium TMNT roleplaying game. The official Kickstarter will be going live on October 31st and you can check it out here and sigh up for updates and such if you're jonsein' to return to TMNT in pen and paper RPG form. Naturally, if you're excited for a new TMNT RPG release, backing the project is the way to go. I can definitely...

I already dropped a couple of preview photos, of this paint, in prior posts, but I finally have the time to get doing a little proper photo shoot and posting these. As I noted with the post for the orange squadron paint Stiletto C-1, I'm finding myself liking this paint scheme more and more. I've also painted the 1/100 scale Stiletto C-1 in these colors as well. It has a very 80s anime mecha color ...

As the last post I dropped about my cat Jamie's medical issues with his eye starkly illustrated; it was a rough month or so as Jamie's situation unfolded from worrisome to worse. I'm happy to report that, two weeks later, post the surgery to remove his right eye, Jamie is doing really well and is back to his old self. Now if I can manage to get him to wear an eye patch (unlikely), it'll be the coole...

Unfortunately, my cat's ongoing issues with his right eye has resulted in him having to have surgery, on Monday, to remove the eye.
I noted in the pre-release STL drop for the new SFI-140B Wespe, he had a pretty rough time of it last weekend, resulting in him ending up in the surgery to remove the eye. During the summer he had been experiencing slightly eleva...

The initial pair of test prints for the new SFI-140B Wespe fighter, overall, have printed quite nicely. Clearly there's no issue with the fighter printing, as seen in the photos. However, I do have some tweaks to the supports I need to do, and run a test or two more, before dropping the STLs (which will drop before month's end). I missed a spot, on the bottom rear of the fighter, that needs added support (a pointed end surface) and I also see that a mild layer shift occured, on both prints at...

Introducing the SFI-140B Wespe.
And, a quick peek at the finished Zbrush model.
The Wespe (German for wasp, in keeping with the naming conventions for the design lineage) is a completely new fighter that's part of the the SF-123 B Möwe and the 2023-08-18 01:24:37 +0000 UTC

Just dropping a quick update peek at what is looking to be a brand new fighter STL release this month. It will be immediately apparent this new fighter shares the same visual design language as the SF-123 B Möwe and the SF-135 Drachen . All 3 of the fighters are clearly f...

Dropping a quick update:
As the post's title says, there are new painted prints underway and, yes, that's a large print of the Stiletto C-1, primed for pending basecoat paints. As the photo shows, I have some prints undergoing paints. I'll be sharing more of some of these soon (some of these should be soon but I have no plans to rush them). I'm also planning to design some new fighters in Zbrush, so I hope to be releasing STLs of some new fighter designs, mid to later in the month. I'l...

Here we have a collection of photos of one of the Navaja B prints I painted. I have plans to paint several more Navaja B fighters but, July wasn't having it, we'll get to them in August I imagine. I quite enjoyed how this one took to paints, with the subtle new details so I look forward to painting and sharing more of them.
Blue tip markings Navaja B: Tamiya AS5 Light blue (Luftwaffe) spray for base coat, various AK pigments for yellow markings, weathering/tints, Blue ...

Thus throwing the month into a bit of chaos.
This is my cat Jamie, and, unfortunately he somehow (as I didn't see him do it) scratched his cornea, in his right eye. He now has a space helmet so he can commune with the radar mice from the moon. As one might expect, he has required a lot of additional direct time, attention, and care (a lot of extra lap time, in fact he just hopped on my lap as I have been typing this) while he, hopefully, recovers. This situation also borked my sleep, w...

This month's first post is much later than I typically would kick off the month, and this is due to working heavily on the final stretch of content for that giant Palladium Books gig I have noted has consumed my time the last month, or so. The good news is the work is very much at the hind end, so I hope to be wrapping soon. It's also been a really cool project that, again, I unfortunately can't elab...

Its been a busy month with both the Palladium work and home related work but I've been getting some print test in the mix as well. I just ran mini print tests of; the Stiletto C-1, Lancea, and Sagitta. As the photos show, all 3 of them printed beautifully, considering, again, they weren't designed with mini versions initially in mind. The Sagitta had a pancake of the left rear engine nozzle. I didn't catch that the support had disconnected itself from the nozzle when I was adjusting the place...

Introducing the U.A.P. 2 UNKNOWN
This is the other fighter update that was waiting in the wings, an upgraded variant of the original UAP UNKNOWN fighter; Zbrush renders and photographs of the first test print (actually 2 printed so far).
The new UAP's obvious difference from the original (the white painted print in the photos is the original UAP) is the new fighter has...

While I still have a significant amount of work for Palladium Books, it also looks like I'm ahead of the allotted time frame I have to complete the work. Obviously this is a good thing, so I've been squeezing in some paints of the recent test prints. There will be more, along with pending new STL releases for June.
Today I have a collection of photos of recent Paints of the new TE-60 St...

Introducing the TE-65A-2 Sharurä A.I. gunship.
I unexpectedly took a left turn at Albuquerque and ended up creating a new Sharurä A.I. gunship variant last night when I had initially planned to finish another new fighter update I have in the wings.
Once I had started working on the original Sharurä Zbrush model I quickly got on with creating the new updated details and before I knew it, I had a new Sharurä variant ready for a print test. I ran t...

As the header states, I'm now knee deep in a pretty big project for Palladium Books, one that is high priority for the publisher. Unfortunately I can't say a word about what it is, other than..., yeah, it's a sizable chunk of work and fans of Palladium will likely really dig it. This is a good thing, this winter was brutal in heating costs so this gig is a welcome pending injection of cash. This will also, in the long run, help keep the printing endeavor rolling, as it does cost money to do t...

I certainly intended and should post them here as well more, and that I shall. This update comes later than I planned as the intended print-a-palooza ended up dial-in-the-Saturn-a-palooza. That said, that's fine. While dialing in my Saturn S was a bit of a pain in the ass, especially with the temperatures bloody still dipping quite a lot in the evenings (I did print quite a lot into the night) I have finally honed in on settings that seem to work well, including to my surprise using 180 lift speed "vroom" settings. The Saturn, as any of you Saturn owners already know, h...

Introducing the TE-62 Navaja B.
The Navaja B is a variant of the original TE-62 Navaja fighter built off the original Zbrush model. Like the previously posted TE-60 Stiletto C-1, this is essentially an iterative upgrade of the original Navaja. This new version of the Navaja sports added new greeble detailing throughout that should help pop what was an already arresting desig...

I've been busy cooking up several updated variants of some of the original first wave of fighter releases. Here's a peek at a fancy pants new version of the Original Stiletto fighter. I was experimenting with a few new approaches to the way I had been building these, and this resulted in an approach that results in smaller polygon/file size models with more detail.
I plan to run a print test on this bad boy tomorrow (it's a wee bit heavy thunderstorm-y tonight) and I don't expect there ...

Palladium books hit me with a sizable (and pretty cool project, unfortunately I can't say what it was yet, as with the prior recent work I've done for them) rush project that took a chunk out of the first week of April. So with that work out of the way I'm currently working on finishing some paints the the last 3 fighter releases, which are the subject of the collection of preview photos above. I'm also working on the box art/ortho illo bundle for the full TE-72 Lancea release, which will dro...

Much catching up to do and catch up I shall. Here's a peek at several new fighter paints underway. The new TE-72 Lancea is in the mix here. Now that the weather is consistently 40 degrees, and higher, I'll be printing aplenty. Running a Sagitta print now, as I want to do a US Navy blue Wildcat style paint, like I did for the box art illo. Plenty more to come, plenty to do.
This winter was bloody rough, not only for the cold messing with printing for me but the damn heating costs were m...

The weather has finally... finally has begun to warm up and somewhat resemble spring here in Michigan-land, so I've finally run a test print for the new TE-72 Lancea fighter. Here be a couple 'o' photo-grapha-magigs. I plan to print several of these, so more to follow (painted examples for sure).
This winter was particularly stupid cold and brutal so far as heating costs are concerned (something I expect we've all been feeing pretty hard), and it really wasn't great for printing. It al...

Here's a look at what will be, tentatively, March's new fighter; the TE 72 Lancea (Latin for spear, or lance). As with the preview of the Sagitta, this is still somewhat of a WIP, but very much in the final stretch toward completion.
We have another fighter that's clearly part of the Stiletto design lineage and is arguably somewhat of a souped-up hot rodded out Stiletto Mk. II. Although, on closer inspection, you can see the Stiletto Mk. II and the new TE-72 Lancea, while sharin...

The new fighter has print; I've run two test prints so far, both with successful results. While the first test print turned out (the unpainted print) I hadn't noticed that resin had pooled in the two front intakes so I did a second Chitu file with a less steep angle on the fighter and new supports. The second print (the Tamiya Ocean Gray base coat painted print) went without a hitch. I have a handful of photos showing the first two test prints off here, including one with the Stiletto Mk. II ...

Here's a peek at a pair of renders for a brand new TE fighter that is the likely candidate for release this month. While the fighter is mostly complete these are still WIP renders, as I have a bit more detail greebling I plan to add. If the weather cooperates and finally warms up (it's been consistently under 20 degrees for some time now) I'll be running test prints for this one soon.
At the moment it's tentatively (as the name may change) named the Alba, which is actually a Native Am...

Just droppin' a peek at some of the various mini test prints so far. As seen in the handful of photos, the Stiletto (both versions) look great in a smaller tabletop size (note the ancient D&D dice from, literally the 80s). The Stiletto II prints shown are using the same pre-supports that the mini test STL included with the Garage kit release uses. As seen in the second photo, there have been mini test print runs of; the Drachen, UAP, Navaja, both versions of the Stiletto, and, an as yet u...

As the header states, a very Happy New Year to everyone!
2022
An entire year producing original 80s anime garage kit style 3D printable sci-fi space fighters. The collected image of all of the box arts really brings that home. While I may not be cranking out piles of STLs, like the bigger 3D printing Patreons do, I've, instead, tried to produce unique designs with the added art bundles to further set the work apart. Whether this was a good idea, or not, it was s...
