It's looking like the sleek looking SF-106 A Sidewinder will be September's primary STL release. This fighter is a revisit of an older Zbrush model build, from last year, that I had already made a pair of initial test prints from, only those were smaller prints than this new, and updated version. The current Sidewinder is a slightly improved Zbrush model with some added and subtle surface greeble details. The supported file is also a larger version than the original test prints were. The new prints came out beautifully, with the first test having a few adjustments I needed to make for the following print (the painted one) to be dialed in.
This is the only fighter, of the series so far, that I actually went into designing with a notion of doing my own take on an existing I.P.s space fighter design; Battlestar Galactica's iconic Colonial Viper. What I ended up with, clearly, is very much me doing my thing but knowing I had the Viper in mind when I designed this one, you likely can see it now that it's a nod to the Viper. Of course, this being an homage to the Viper, I ended up naming it the Sidewinder in keeping with the snake naming convention. More to come on this fighter and The Three Nine Line works soon.
Have a great weekend and thanks for looking!
