Omnisense street view: Indus...
Added 2018-09-18 15:35:53 +0000 UTCOK, back to it...
Those that have been following the Theos KE Polemos and Whispers of the Deep material are likely beginning to get a bit of a sense what the setting of the labyrinthine architectural planet Indus is like; vast dense urban wastelands of living spaces and out of control industrial madness. While I was honestly never influenced by him, Tsutomu Nihei's setting for BLAME! is the closest comparison I can make, he seems to share a lot of the same obsessions I do.
Throughout the years I've posted various pieces showing glimpses of the setting but once I began doing the "Omnisense street view" pieces I found inspiration in Google's street view to approach them with the theme of Omnisense (Indus global monitoring and information network) camera shots.

The original series of 5 Omnisense street view pieces were rendered pencil illustrations edited and augmented in Photoshop with digital color. They were approached more with the notion of an anime background layout in mind. My leaving the rendered pencils in the pieces led to them having a very different kind of look than the usual painted anime background though. I'll likely be doing more of them at some point soon, however...

The examples in this post are manga/comics style traditional ink illustrations with digital gray scale paints, screen tones in Clip Studio Paint, and later digital color.

Of course I'll be sharing this work here but I also want those of you supporting this work here on Patreon to be familiar with this series and the overall aesthetics and atmosphere of the Indus setting. The reason is this series might factor into a higher Patreon tier coming down the line. I'll get into what it will be later but I think it might be an interesting way for a select number of Patreons to have a direct involvement in TKP.
For now, I'll continue to post examples of Omnisense street view: Indus so the setting becomes more familiar with Patreons and there's some context once I do launch the mystery tier in question.
Featured locations in order top to bottom:
residential J-362
unknown K level industrial

So far I've done 3 manga A4 pages of these with two locations each, making 6, so far, for the manga series. There will be more.
