Furries: Q&A Question Collection

The time has come! If you have a particular question about the new video, having to do with the subject itself or the process, leave it here! If a question is somehow unsuitable, I'll leave a reply so you can have a chance to change it.

I will be gone all of next week, but I want to leave this up long enough to make sure everyone gets a chance, so I'll likely make the response video the week of the 26th.

This is a meta question but are there going to be Q&A videos for subjects covered before these Q&A videos were a thing?

What is your opinion on the Burned Furs, their founders, and their rhetoric? As much as I hate to admit it, I can't help but feel a little bit of sympathy for them despite the extreme and sometimes insane beliefs of some of it's members.

One more question if that's ok: do you think subcultures that grow on the fringe of the mainstream--be it a fetish, fandom, or any other subject that attracts like-minded individuals--will inevitably succumb to gatekeeping, tribalism, and in-fighting as it did in the furry community?

What do you think set apart the furry fandom from other groups and subcultures with regards to how they developed such a big internet presence just as the internet was beginning to become mainstream, and how said presence has manage to endure for so long? In general, they have a working pattern of being among the earliest adopters of so many types of websites and technologies related to the internet, so why do you think this is?

While they don't eat in it, they mostly use big Plush version of food to get more into their role. (and wile the don't eat, some do drink alot by just putting the bottle straight into the mouth which looks very funny)

How many “Funny Animal” comics did you have to sift through over the course of the research for this video, and which were the most and least interesting?

SogekingVinesmoke

The video was brilliant and informative as a history of furries. What I missed was a real analysis of WHY this weird bizarre thing suddenly became so popular. The conclusion "one thing is clear, furries are here to stay" is a hollow and meaningless cliche which I found rather disappointing.

Were you worried about getting backlash for treating the subject of furries so seriously, considering a major part of their history is people's derision and often outright hostility towards them?

I was totally implying that they eat through a straw. The heads look to be solid so I was picturing someone blending carrots and sipping on it while in their rabbit costume. I’m curious to know how dedicated people are while portraying their respective animal, and how extreme it can become. I’m sure there are some people who do that, at least one guy lol.

Jojo’s Dogtail

What would you call the defining moment of the fandom, the point where it became a subculture beyond a fandom?

You can't really eat inside a fursuit, besides having a drink through a straw or some candy for quick energy. People don't eat with a fursuit on. You'd ruin a very expensive costume very quickly (a good full fursuit costs 2k minimum, quickly getting more expensive the more complicated the character is).

SkaveRat

What's your spirit animal, or fursona?

This topic seems so vast and daunting to tackle. How did you even begin the research process?

Cordelia Specifically

At conventions, or at all in the community, do people in furry costumes choose to eat food that their portrayed animal would eat? I want to know how immersed some become while inside their costume.
