Update on what is to come + AMA!

Yes Yes everyone!

Just wanted to update you all on what ive been upto recently.

Ive been focusing hard on this next batch of Patreon production masterclasses + podcasts (Grey Code, Jon Casey, Mat Zo, Pocket + my manager + MORE) + finishing these two remixes for some DnB legends.

I wanted to open this up to a small Ama, ask me anything about my set up/production in the comments below :)

Thank you for supporting me. Last months patreon covered a large portion of my bills!

Do you usually separate your sound design and writing sessions? Would love a video walkthrough on how you approach bass sound design and/or building drum loops. I feel like programming DnB drums is so tedious and hard to get the groove and articulations right that I often settle for grabbing premade splice top loops for the sake of time. Thanks for all you do!

Great question, i use a sub pack + Fabfilter Pro-Q2 + SPAN. Sub Pack = i put the pack on the floor and put my feet on it so i can perceive the low end real accurately. It doesn’t make sense to wear it on your back as thats not where we naturally ‘feel’ bass in the club. SPAN/Pro-Q = i use these to visually analyse where the bass is sitting on the frq spectrum. And adjust accordingly. In terms of monitoring. I made my own sound proofing to help acoustics. I also monitor using Mac Speakers/KrK’s/Headphones + living room hi-fi set up. Through referencing on all those monitors i get quite close to a true image of what the track sounds like

Hey man, its not something ive ever paid attention to. Good song writing is rule number one. I then focus on getting the mix as close to where I envision it as pos Then, if a label has an in house master team. I export the track with nothing on the master and -6db on the master also. Also you wont loose create control as you pay them to achieve what you want, its a conversation. :)

Do you use a sub when writing? Being in an enclosed environment, do you rely on headphones for mixing or do you have another method to achieve balanced mix downs?

yo! how important is the -23LUFS mixing guideline and the -12LUFS mastering guideline for you? and what're ur thoughts on hiring engineers to finish up songs as an electronic producer? my worry is that ill begin hiring engineers to make my songs sound polished/professional, ill lose creative control, and then ill always have to depend on engineers in order to finish songs of mine. thx! :)
