A different kind of WIP

I share a lot of painting work in progress pictures but today I thought I'd show you a bit more of the backend part of the channel. What you see here is a graph showing my views per day since my first miniature painting video.

Some interesting dates that are shown on the chart:

* Mid January is when the HATE KS launched and shows the start of offering my quick Kickstarter videos.

* Second half of February was my first Rising Sun miniature painting videos.

Those really seem to be the 2 major milestones of the channel (so far). Looking forward to the next one!

Sadly most of the answers to your questions are no. You can dig into specific videos and view some interesting data like average view time but even then you are kind of going in blind. There are other programs you can use to compare your data to specific people you choose but really that it. This means YT is a lot of guesswork and superstition. For instance, many say to always keep your description to less than 500 characters. Why? Some videos do well and don't have a lot. It reminds me a lot of Baseball if you know how superstition works like that. Say someone hits a home run and they noticed they rubbed their nose before batting so they rub their nose again and hit another home run. Did rubbing their nose help hit the home run? Of course not, but many will continue to rub their nose anyway. It's actually kind of frustrating not knowing. For instance, I always want to post on Friday afternoon because I feel more people would watch the video, but is that the case or does every rise on this graph relate to a popular video being released regardless of week date? Pretty hard to actually determine that with no way to build your own queries which I would LOVE to do without having to actually deal with building my own software and using their API or paying another company to do that.

This is really interesting! Does YouTube let you compare your graph with some benchmark (for example, all YT views, group of similar content channels views or group Of channels with a similar audience in demographic and geographic terms) so that you can reduce the noise to figure out which lows and highs are specific to your channel and which are more a general viewing pattern?
