SKETCHBOOK: Hasukhara design sketches // mostly sfw

in preparation for writing the OC spotlight about Nuha, me and kubi discussed some details of her backstory and how exactly she met her girlfriend Jing (click here for some sketches of the two of them). while doing so we also ended up fleshing out the organisation that Jing is part of, which is the palatial Shadow Guard that's been mentioned in some previous spotlights (such as the one about Lei). before we knew it i had created a colleague and friend for Jing, a half-rhaajim named Hasukhara -- and then kubi created a boyfriend for him, a Sun Knight called Ravi. Ravi's Sun Knight captain is none other than Iskandar, who is dating Renza, who is Nuha's adoptive older brother ... and thus grows the web of connections between characters.
i tried to put these sketches in the order they were drawn, to showcase the step-by-step consolidation of Hasukhara's design. he's become an instant favourite, but i can't believe it took me and kubi years of writing stories together to create a classic night & day pairing.
last but not least, i labelled this post 'mostly sfw' because of the artistic butt. i'm very happy with that butt. it's a good butt.
