i'm happy to announce that from now on i'll be making exercise sheets to go along with my HOW TO MONSTER tutorials. the purpose of the tutorials is to give you information, ideas, and inspiration--the purpose of the exercise sheets is to get you drawing. they will contain art exercises you can do to get from simply reading the tutorial and thinking about various ideas to actually sketching designs of your own.
these exercise sheets will be 3-5 pages and contain anywhere between 5-15 exercises. they'll have illustrated examples to show you how to do the exercises, and sketches you can use as reference and inspiration. the exercises are focused on drawing, designing, and learning, in a 'teach a person to fish' way. i want them to have applicable use and make you feel more confident about creating monstrous designs of your own.
each exercise sheet will be released in the month following the publication of the HTM tutorial it goes along with. for example i posted HTM09 in february, and now that it's march i just posted the accompanying exercise sheet. i'll release the HTM10 tutorial in may, and the HTM10 exercise sheet will be posted in june. and so on and so forth. this way you get more value from the $10 tier over a longer period of time, because you'll be getting HTM things more often.
past HTMs have sometimes contained exercise suggestions, but in a kind of sporadic way, haphazardly spread throughout the tutorial. i figured i might as well start making actual exercise sheets, with concise ideas for exercises and studies in a way that's easier to follow and overview. the tutorials and exercise sheets complement one another so i recommend (re)reading the accompanying tutorial first, and then strike the iron while it's hot--do some exercises while you're feeling inspired by the HTM guide!

TERMS OF USE
• if you post your studies anywhere online, i'd really appreciate if you gave me a shout-out with a link to my patreon <3
• i *encourage* you to use my sketches in the exercise sheets (and in the tutorials) as reference and inspiration for these educational exercises and studies. i recommend creating a blank canvas and drawing your own copies of my sketches, because you learn more that way. however, you *may* also copypaste my sketches and use them as bases for your studies. in other words, you *can* trace them--but *only* for the educational purpose of doing these exercises. don't trace them for unrelated sketches/other artwork/etc. be cool. and if you trace my sketches, you *have* to give me some credit if you post your studies online ("based on sketches by patreon.com/somanyfangs" is enough!).
