POLL: emergency reward idea - icons/character portraits?

short version: i’m healthy, but the effects of the coronavirus on the world is reaching me, as so many other people. to ensure some level of financial security for myself i am thinking about creating a new patreon reward tier for doing some icons, aka basically character portraits that would be suitable for use as icons/userpics. there would be a limited number of slots, i’m thinking 3-5, and the tier would be between 50-75 USD depending on which art style i go for/how much time they take to create.

if anyone’s wondering, yes, i’ll keep posting all my usual patreon content as normal. i’m not in lockdown or quarantine or anything like that but i’m practising as much social distancing as i can and hey, the upside of being an artist is i can always just coop myself up and draw, right.

if i do decide to do an icon reward tier i’m going to draw a few example icons and write up some basic ‘rules,’ but to begin with i figured i’d gauge the interest.

long version: so i’m in europe and the situation in my country is changing every day. me and all my loved ones are healthy so far, but the coronavirus affects everyone’s lives. in my case my workplace (a restaurant) is cutting down on our hours so my salary (which, to begin with, usually covers little more than my monthly bills, food, and basic necessities) will be less than i had hoped for, though i don’t yet know by how much. so far we’re still open (but with shorter operating hours) and i’m worried we’ll have to close down entirely (if only temporarily).

i also had to cancel a trip i had saved up to for a year and i only got a fourth of the money back, so basically a lot of the money went down the drain. it just feels like i paid for laying in bed and crying for a few days. 

before this crisis hit the world, i had just worked myself up to a base level of financial security, where i could start saving up for things other than bare necessities. now suddenly i’m worried about ending up back in poverty again, so i’m looking at ways to keep that from happening.

of course, health is more important than anything right now, especially for people at risk. i can deal with poverty as a cost for doing my bid in flattening the curve and saving as many lives as possible. but i can also work from the safety of my own home to try to ensure financial security for myself.
