Development Time - Poll
Added 2024-10-23 21:51:27 +0000 UTCHey everyone! The first poll of what sort of development cycle you guys would like us to have is here!
This poll will help us decide how we continue to release updates in the future.
Here are explanations of the options:
Fixed monthly release - Consistent deadline, shorter development time with the content in it being similar to the inital (V0.01, V0.02, V0.03) releases of Vulgar Reverie.
Variable monthly release - Ballpark release date, e.g. "final week of November" with status updates and final release day given closer to the time. Content wise, similar to the first beach updates (V0.06, V0.07).
Bi-monthly release - Increase development time to release a new version every 2 months (with improvements also sometimes made to previous updates during that time too.) Content wise, similar to the bar update (V0.04) and the latest one (V0.08) but with 1 or 2 more pieces of art per update.
Let us know which one you prefer. :)

As much as bi monthly sounds better, financial wise is the worst decision. There's a higher chance people won't be subscribed continuously, since for a whole month there would be no content. Fixed monthly like it was until now, with 1 week of extra wait in case of need is the best imo

2024-10-24 16:10:12 +0000 UTCBi-Monthly. Lets you really mull the scenes and get the art fine tuned. Rushing an artist can take away from the soul of the game. As well as rushing a scene or not exploring another avenue because release time is next week. Def prefer bi monthly.

2024-10-24 02:29:25 +0000 UTCI voted bi monthly because I think being patient and waiting for more makes the release all the more satisfying! But I am worried about patreon retention since I know funding is the most important. What would be best for patreon retention do you think?

2024-10-23 23:08:20 +0000 UTCEven though I would prefer that the "once a month" schedule is retained, the main question deciding my vote would be: do you, the devs, believe the end product would be of superior quality & quantity on a bi-monthly release schedule? Because if you would prefer that one (due to the added commodity as well), then the answer becomes clear, regardless of my personal feelings.

2024-10-23 22:11:03 +0000 UTCI think variable monthly will just be the best, bi-monthly may be too much time between updates to wait and may cause people to drop subscriptions during off-months and resub only for release months, and when the game itself is fully complete you can always go back and add content to older parts of the game

2024-10-23 22:03:41 +0000 UTCrather have bigger updates longer release time than more updates but smaller updates

2024-10-23 22:03:39 +0000 UTCBi-Monthly, only because, thinking of some of the best visual novels I’ve played, they typically run with that schedule or variable
