Shackles (Completed)
Added 2022-11-30 02:14:13 +0000 UTCHey everyone! As promised, here's the finished and compiled version of Shackles, as a single PDF that will hopefully be nice and convenient for you all to have access to. I've re-edited it all to (hopefully) look professional and be readable, as well as making some changes (mostly correcting some minor continuity errors and addressing some small mistakes). I know some of you have been waiting for the story to finish before sinking your teeth into Shackles; if that's you, this is what you've been waiting for!
Editing this prompted a lot of reflecting on Shackles and its writing progress. The biggest thing that's blow me away, by far, is how long it is. It clocks in at over 100,000 words, and the PDF is well over 400 pages long. That's just completely insane to me. I barely realized that I was writing a novel, let alone such a huge one!
I'm extremely proud of that achievement, but I think it's fair to say that it got away from me at certain points. Going forwards, it's made me resolve to write stories like this in shorter bursts, rather than spreading them out like this. I don't like that you all had to wait so long, and I think it would have been easier for me to keep it all in my head if I was just living and breathing Shackles for 21 weeks, instead of dipping in and out for well over a year. I would also like to go deeper on planning in the future. I always feel bad about the idea of taking time away from releases to plan a story, since I'm not really giving all of you anything to show for it right away, but if it leads to a better finished product I'm sure it would be the right thing today
Anyway! That's enough out of me. All that's left to say is, thank you to all of you who've been here for this incredible chapter in my life as a writer <3
