nehaneru is a great spirit/lesser god belonging to the realm of a divinity known as the gatekeeper, and i wanted his colour scheme to reflect his alignment. the gatekeeper is associated with iridescence--oil slicks shimmering with all the colours of the rainbow, multi-coloured crystals and gems, opalescence, mother-of-pearl, magpie feathers, insect carapaces, and so on.
at first i wanted nehaneru to be oily and dark, like my first concept sketch in part 1. he's supposed to be eldritch and creepy so a dark colour scheme would be a classic choice and a safe bet. but i felt like he would look kinda similar to logan, plus it also felt like playing it too safe--like i should be able to come up with a more unique colour scheme for him, rather than sticking to my comfort zone. i went through #1 to #11 before i started experimenting with a more pale option, running with the theme of opalescence and finally arriving at #12F. i might still tweak it a bit, but i'm super happy with it and i'm glad i didn't cling too hard to my original idea of a dark colour scheme!
