He was sued and got a lot of negative publicity (you'll see when you get to the track "Who Knew") about his music; and if I'm not mistaken even banned from touring/performing in Canada due to the subject matter of his lyrics from the SSLP; that this album was him essentially responding to those frustrations and in Slim Shady fashion.. trolling those by being like "oh.. you thought that was bad.." then doubling down on the offensive shit. Key tracks to me are "Who Knew", " The Way I Am", and "Criminal" which without spoiling, essentially detail his vilification via the media. Also worth noting he did win the lawsuits about his lyrics because they fall under free speech. Sure.. what he's rapping about could influence the youth negatively (that's the angle the parents took) but his argument was "so can movies.. my music is no different than any other rated R film or show" (not direct quote, more of a over-arching summery).
