HOW TO MONSTER 01: Basic Monster Anatomy // sfw-ish
Added 2018-03-31 10:56:56 +0000 UTCi'm excited to present: my first HOW TO MONSTER tutorial! look below to download a .zip containing both the PDF and the individual, full-size pngs of each page. i'm labelling it 'semi-sfw' since it contains some non-sexual nudity.
turns out that discussing the topic of 'basic monster anatomy' in 3-5 pages was more difficult than expected! i quickly realised i needed to narrow it down a bit, so i chose to focus primarily on 'werecreature' anatomy this time, since it's so versatile, applicable to a huge variety of monsters, and widely popular in the terato community.
i managed to include some short notes on feral and humanoid monster anatomy too, but not nearly as much as i would have liked - i'd love to do future HTMs devoted entirely to humanoid/feral monsters. i didn't get to talk about merfolk, naga, centaurs, or other 'composite' monsters, which is a bummer but there just wasn't enough space for all of this stuff. i decided to keep it mostly sfw so alas, no section on monster genitalia, but i could absolutely do a tutorial about that some day. i could also spend pages talking about 'secondary' features like tails, wings, and horns/antlers, not to mention the design process i touch upon here and there. in short: i have looots of ideas for future HTMs!
