During this, Jared was in the process of losing the weight he gained (almost 5 stone) for a film role in which he played mark David Chapman, the man who murdered John Lennon. I went to see them play in small venues 2006 and 2007 beautiful lie tour, before they were really known here in the uk. Have to say they were an amazing live band back then, and met them after both gigs. Also, the drummer is his brother (they look nothing alike lol)

I didn’t know who they were but I was able to get pretty close to the stage. I remember the lead singer had the most intense blue eyes and he was mesmerizing. He stared at me like he was looking into me. He was almost magnetic and I found it a little unsettling but performance was lit. Found out later that lead singer was Jared Leto. I have heard many people say he has a mesmerizing gaze and I can vouch that is true. Not even a little surprised he has allegedly started some cult of his own on his private island. I experienced that gaze.

2024-02-14 08:09:08 +0000 UTCI remember meeting them after one of their shows, right after they released the album this song is from. It was their second studio album called "A Beautiful Lie." A no skip album, which are definitely harder to find but absolute gems when you do! They had just played at a very well know smaller venue in the city near where I live, it used to be a church, it was later made into a concert hall, where lots of more underground shows would take place. They are still doing shows there even today. Awesome place! The lead singer is Jared Leto. He is also an actor. He has been in "My So Called Life." He also played The Joker in the original Suicide Squad movie, and played the main character in the movie Morbius. Jist to name a few. Let's just say, he is quite the character. I think they definitely love the dramatics, and their music videos show this, as well as their live shows. I would say Jared truly fits in very well with in Hollywood. I had personally know Jared, from a younger age myself, from watching the show "My So Called Life." That show also starred Claire Danes, they were both quite young I think. But anyways, I was so nervous to meet him. I remember it was a bit odd and a bit distasteful, atleast thats what I thought, especially for a more underground band that is, especially one that wasn't as well known and was newer. But I remember that they had it set up that after the show you could meet them and say hi, but only if you bought the album. I had already owned the album, but they were selling them for like only $10 bucks so I was like ok. But again I was so nervous and excited that when I meet them all and had them sign my album, I literally forgot to take the album booklet out of the cd case🙄 So yeah, I had them all sign the front plastic cover of the cd case instead of the booklet, lol. Didn't even realize what I had done til some time later. What can I say I am a dork, lol. All of them were nice and seemed pretty chill if I remember correctly. But agwin, like I said before this was a rather difference experience, it wasn't something I thought was too cool though, all in all. Because thats just not how things really were in the underground scene, so if it had been another band I'm not sure I would have even done it. But since I really wanted to meet Jared, for more reasons than just the band, I was ok with it. Jared's brother is also in the band, he is the drummer, his name is Shannan Leto. They do look quite a bit alike. 30 Seconds to Mars was never really considered metal, they are Alternative, and Screamo or Emo, atleast around the time this album came out. I don't listen to a lot of their newer stuff, but I do know that they have continued to change up their sound through the years. My favorite music will always be among those beginning albums. But what can I say, I bias and they were a band I really really liked, and still do like them, and love this album. Just a little heada up though, if you do watch some if their live shows don't be surprised if you see stuff that almost looks cult like. Like I said I think they really like the dramatics/ theatrics. I remember seeing them one year at Warped Tour and they had people coming through the crowd with flags that had their artwork on them, etc... It was interesting and rather different. But all the times I have seen them live, which I honestly lost count, it was always great. They are truly all very talented. And Jared is no exception. He is an extremely talented and artistic person. And yes his voice in particular is absolutely gorgeous. All in all, they are an awesome group, and were a big part of my teenage years . Good memories!

Attack is a hard song (possibly thier hardest and a favorite among fans who were there from the beginning) good video too. Beautiful Lie (single from same titled album) hit song, cool video. R-Evolve is a personal favorite.

They have been one of my favourite bands for years. Jared Leto is the singer in the band who also acts professionally. He played the Joker in Suicide Squad and in some other great movies, such as Mr. Nobody, Chapter 27, and Requiem for a Dream.

He was the joker on Suicide Squad, Nick Cages little brother in Lord of War, and soooo many other movies I can't even remember them all lol. Their sound now is more poppy I think, definitely love their older stuff.

He's been in a bunch of stuff you've seen. Listen to the studio version. The video is so choppy. If you've never seen The Shining, this video will make no sense
