Hello you wonderful guys and gals out there, we are back at it once AGAIN with another devlog for that dang ol' Bellagarth's Quest. This one I primarily show off the new achievement and gallery system, guest starring a familiar face!
As was mentioned in the devlog, I want to get another playable build out very soon, but there's still a few major bugfixes n' stuff I wanna get sorted before passing it on to you lovely people.
As we near the end of the year, we're also nearing the end of the first book of Bellagarth's Quest, god willing we stay on track and get this damn arc over and done with!

Hey everyone! This month's been pretty busy for me with moving n' stuff, my entire setup is sitting in a cardboard box which means I'm relegated to a tablet (which is fine but I work quite a bit slower this way)
Thought I'd throw a quick bite-sized update at ya to show what I've managed to get done in the meantime! World map is finally getting proper sprites set up!
I think this really helps give a better sense of "place" between each level, making it feel a little less like just a menu (which it is but, ya know)
Unfortunately this change does mean we have to say goodbye to 90's playmat...
I miss you already my sweet, sweet crunchy jpeg...
The original plan was to have the world map be like a beige map thingy similar to what you see in the opening (hence why Bellagarth was originally represented by that little red piece) which would have definitely been easier and faster to make, but after some deliberation I felt it would just be way better for the game's overall "vibe" for the map to be more colorful and have depth and stuff (which will be especially useful for underground/indoor spots like the Froblin Town)
Hopefully this call wasn't a mistake cuz this shit takes time!!!

Comin' back atcha with another devlog for my bitchass pizza tower clone
This section was a doozy to construct but super fun once it all came together. There was a lot of other tiny tweaks in-between like adding a dodge move and fixing up some UI stuff (showing actual gamepad buttons for displays rather than just the word for the button). But most of that stuff is BOOOOORING.
This devlog does also feature me proposing some general ideas I've been knocking around in my head so feel free to give it a listen and let me know what you think!

Hello everyone! I've got a playable build for ya! Check out the downloads below if you wanna give it a shot!
It SHOULD work fine with whatever current save file you have, but if that happens to not be the case for you and it's crashing on startup, make sure to check out this guide here to delete your old save (also sorry if you have to delete your old save).

EDIT 1:
Okay so someone immediately caught a really silly mistake where I left a debugging thing in that I totally forgot to get rid of because I never use spacebar lmao. Updated the game zip with a fixed version.
ALSO be aware that there's apparently issues related to alt-tabbing while fullscreened, i would highly recommend going into windowed -> borderless mode to avoid that issue.
EDIT 2:
I've confirmed that there is a replicable issue with this build of the game caused by running it in fullscreen and tabbing in and out, the game display will likely freeze on a random frame (for some reason the title screen usually??). This 100% Game Maker's fault and I'm stuck waiting on a fix, so for the time being DO NOT RUN THE GAME IN FULLSCREEN
EDIT 3:
Updated the game with a hotkey to toggle fullscreen (F4) from testing switching out of fullscreen does fix the game when it "freezes", so just hit F4 real quick if that happens to unstick it. Added a couple other little tweaks based on feedback and also added a dodge move if folks wanna give that a try! Game Maker has also added a new syncing method that seems to help with the visual stutter that I've added for this build as well! Thanks for all your feedback!!

Hello all you wonderful people out there, I come to you with another devlog of that one game I'm doing.

This one showcases a slime eating minigame and the new playable form that comes from it. Technically the hotspring look that Bellagarth has is the first new "form" for Bellagarth that I made, but this one actually alters how you play. I also decided to screen record most of the process of creating it so I could get a little more into the nitty-gritty on the devlog this time around!

Hey everyone! Thought I'd throw out a quick bite-sized update on the state of progress with the game as it's been a little bit.
I do intend to release a proper devlog on all that's been completed thus far sometime this month, but this next chunk is pretty hefty and I think best presented in one big chunk to better get the concept across, so I thought a little update to let you all know I'm steadily plugging away would be a fine enough middle-ground.
Progress has been really great! I've tweaked the tower defense game to be way less bullshit, as well as a good few other fixes based on people's feedback (like the overuse of hitstop). I've also added a new enemy type that Bellagarth can hop on and use for herself:
I've also added an encounter with one of the soldiers from the very beginning of the game:
Beating him will progress the story to a key section where the real MEAT AND POTATOES of the swamp zone lies, I'm very excited to show it but it's still cooking up and I really don't want to show it half-finished, so you all gotta wait!!
Hard to put into words just how excited I'm feeling right now about the project, it kind of comes and goes in waves (as I've been learning is the way it tends to go with long-form projects).
Right now I'm seeing a story I started writing back in late 2023 as a fun "what if" really take shape so I'm incredibly motivated to keep pushing forward.
Yes, I started writing the story for the sequel to Lilith's Lair before I even finished Visca's Earth Conquest lol
There's so much fun stuff coming up, I'm super excited to make it and for you fine folks to play it! Thank you all for your wonderful support, it warms my heart and stokes the coals in my engine so they burn EXTRA HOT!!! OW OW
