YouTube blocked 😭

I’ve submitted a request for the removal of the block so hopefully the record company aren’t complete d*cks and let me upload it - but for now, enjoy!

Disturbed - Down With The Sickness | REACTION

Comments

The most effective use of this song was over the end credits of Dawn of the Dead (2004). Perfectly fits the Zombie Theme.

Maaan I used to bang my head off to this tune every second Saturday of every month for many years when I used to go to Unchained (rock club in Wrexham)! Brings back memories, and a floor filler for years, for sure!

Besides reading the lyrics, I think some cultural context will help with understanding the sickness. This song came out during a time when there was a lot of pushback against rock and metal for being supposedly demonic and noise music. This was also a time right after grunge music, in which geoups and singers started talking about more negative things in their songs. Screamo rock, alt rock, and emo rock really took that and ran with it, so you get songs like this where they're talking about succumbing to evil or being at the point of wanting to die. Linkin Park is a great band for an example of this that's both screamo and alt rock. Oh, and the video you watched cut out the creepiest part of the song! He does a bridge(?) as a young boy who's mother abuses him, and at the end of it he's grown up and ready to get revenge. It's really, really intense. Also, Disturbed's version of The Sound of Silence is indeed a cover of the original. Most of the song has him singing with his classically trained voice; there's only a little bit where he's growling. :( It's still absolutely gorgeous, I just wanted to give you a head's up.

I can't believe the coinky dink! Ever since you started listening to Evanescence, I started thinking about my old music, and what I thought it'd be interesting for you to react to. Disturbed, Sound of Silence, was at the top of my list - both MV and Conan live versions. But I also thought you needed to hear the other side, and Down W/ the Sickness made sense in that regard. So, a new Evanescence song yesterday, and I was back thinking about Disturbed again. Came over to Patreon to see if you had any more Ateez after watching Don't Stop, and couldn't believe you'd just uploaded Disturbed!! I'm loving these little forays into the rock world. Happy to see you discovering things that you like! That's the stuff I grew up on!

It's funny that you said he was like a psychiatrist because he's actually very well spoken, speaks intellectually and when he speaks to the crowd it's like he's giving a big Pep talk lol.

Singers name is David Draiman. He's a trained Jewish cantor (musical leader). Has one of the most powerful vocals in metal. He's capable of overtone, which can sound like he has a vocal overlay on.
