Chapter 46: What do you do when police is at the door?

Jack slashed at the wooden door. It made a very loud sound. He kept slashing at the lock of the door. When it was a bit broken, he tried kicking in the door but it didn’t break.

“Wait! I’ll come out! Fucking wait!” the drug dealer in the apartment said. Jack had been slashing for about two minutes and the drug dealer had spent that time flushing all his drugs because he thought the police were at the door.

“Don’t shoot! I have my hands behind my back, I’ll open now! Okay?” the drug dealer said.

Jack didn’t say anything. He dropped his machete and readied his assault rifle. It didn’t really register to him that the drug dealer thought he was police or that the drug dealer was going to come out. All he knew was that he was behind the door and that if he shot at the door now, the drug dealer would probably die.

Before he could shoot, the drug dealer opened the door.

Jack saw it was a hispanic man. He pointed the rifle at his face and shot.

The hispanic dropped to the floor and Jack aimed down at him and started shooting more. When it was clear that he was dead, Jack took off running.

Jack was staring at the pure blue sky of the game world.

“So, you gonna test out that lethal strike skill?” Lucas said.

Jack had made it home unnoticed after his homicide side trip, and it was now the next day and they were back in the game world.

“I think it’s some kind of skill or magical shit, because it didn’t give me any intuitive understanding. Everyone step away. I’ll try it now,” Jack said.

Brian and Lucas walked far away and Jack faced a nearby tree.

“Lethal strike!” he yelled.

Nothing happened. He then tried to say the skill while swinging his machete, but nothing happened.

“Yeah, I give up,” Jack said.

“Any progress on the mana training?” Jack said.

“I have no idea. Maybe? I can’t feel a shit difference. Not even one gram. I think this skill must be slow or some shit. Or I’m doing something wrong,” Brian said.

“Maybe you have to use it against a monster? the lethal part suggests that it is against an opponent?” Lucas said.

Jack shrugged, and ran off into the forest with his machete. It took him about a minute to find a balloon monster.

“Lethal strike!” he yelled.

Nothing unusual happened. The balloon monster just popped.

Jack came back and said what happened.

“Yo. Won’t we get more skill crystals if we grind wolf monsters with the siege tower in the wolf zone? with our rifles. There’s nobody in the tier 2 zones to fuck with us,” Jack said.

“Maybe. But that place is fucking stressfull,” Lucas said while unconsciously touching his missing fingers. Most of them were still missing. But he could see grams of progress. However, Jack had to divide his time between healing Brian’s broken rib and Lucas’ fingers. So the healing was very pending.

“I think Jack should become the designated healer and invest all his points into healing,” Lucas said.

“You know, I’ve been thinking a little about what will happen if I buy the rank two of the healing blueprint. Like, will it heal faster or better or what the fuck?” Jack said.

“Yo! Gay boy is back!” Lucas yelled. Johnny appeared in the horizon and looked absolutely exhausted and had a lot of cuts on his arms.

“How many you got today? any points?” Brian said.

“N-No points… I got a crystal!” Johnny said.

Brian grabbed the bag with the crystal from him.

“Took you longer than before,” Brian said.

“I’m sorry,” Johnny said.

Brian handed over 1000 dollars to him.

“Scram,” Brian said.

Johnny exited the game.

“Okay, let’s pop these bad boys!” Brian said, while holding the crystal from Johnny and the two crystals they had managed to get themselves. It was a mystery why the grinding efficiency went down if three people were together. Maybe the system was just pissed that they were grinding so safely and punished them like this. They weren’t sure.
