New patron benefits: comic spotlight

• everyone can now browse all the Spotlight comics, but I'm still waiting for more of you to pick a comic before I start showing your selections on the main "Explore" page;
• and you can see the patron badge on comic listing pages now, but those aren't visible to non-patrons yet.

I'm working on a new reward for all Comic Rocket patrons: You can now pick a comic you think deserves more attention, and it'll be promoted on Comic Rocket's "Explore" page to everyone who's looking there for something new to read. It doesn't have to be a comic you created, but it certainly can be if you want.

This reward is available to all patrons regardless of how much you pledge, but the more you pledge, the more often your selection will show up on the "Explore" page. A random selection of a few of the spotlight comics will show up on each page load so it doesn't just overwhelm visitors, and the chances that your choice will be one of the selected ones depends on your pledge level.

To get started,

• first link your Patreon account to Comic Rocket;
• then whenever you're looking at the Comic Rocket listing for a comic, you'll see a "Patron spotlight" box with a button to "Spotlight this comic".

You can change your spotlight choice at any time.

The "Explore" page doesn't actually show the selections today. I want a few patrons to make your choices first so it doesn't just show up as an empty box, and so I can do a little more testing. But I expect to get that going soon.

Later on I also intend to add a badge to your user page indicating which comic you're spotlighting, and another one to the comic listing acknowledging you as someone who's spotlighting that comic. When I get that going though, it will respect your Patreon privacy settings, so those badges won't appear if you've chosen to keep the campaigns you're backing private.

Last week I removed all the reward tiers from this Patreon campaign; they weren't benefits I could reliably provide, and they weren't meaningful to most Comic Rocket patrons anyway. This new spotlight feature is automated, and I'm hoping it'll be a fun bonus for everyone.
