Still Going
Added 2023-08-06 16:57:15 +0000 UTCSup everyone, just wanted to give a lil' update so you know I'm not dead. Been pretty lost after the release of On Thin Ice. But I've finally figured out what I want to do next.
I've been slowly working on an original story, as in no IP, not glorified fan fiction etc. I don't have a title yet, but right now the plan is a 4 issue arc. How will I actually get that made? No fucking clue, but I'm just having fun writing it at the moment. Minor spoilers ahead.
Ok so the pitch: Die Hard meets Lovecraft. More specifically I've had a floating idea in my head for some years now, because I love the structure of Metal Gear Solid. MGS is basically just Die Hard, but with a giant robot for the third act. Since I'm really just a hack at heart, I've always wanted to just do that but my own story. So then I thought, "hey, a giant cthulhu type kaiju monster is just as bombastic and fantastic as a giant robot." I'm just gonna spoil the whole thing next, but this ain't some Shyamalan joint. I think the story is perfectly enjoyable regardless of knowing any twists and turns just like Die Hard and MGS.
The story is basically this: A lil' unassuming timid front desk assistant, Ophelia, gets caught up in a die hard type situation. But instead of it just being about some lady becoming a strong die hard woman, the twist is the "terrorists" are actually a secret Men In Black type organization there to stop a lovecraftian cult from summoning an old god. The company Ophelia was just the front desk assistant for, turns out to have been a front for this cult. Their mission goes fubar and Ophelia ends up having to team up with a hot shot agent of this secret organization to fight a giant lovecraftian monster.
So there you have it, a pretty straight forward lil story, but one I think could be a lot of fun. Now to go FULL NERD on yall. I fucking love Star Trek. What does that have to do with this story? Well again since I'm a hack at heart, I just wanna do Star Trek but mine. But how do we give it a new angle so I don't get sued? Star Trek meets Men in Black. I think this story I'm working on (which I don't have a title for yet, haven't been able to come up with anything good), could be a way to launch into its own little comic story universe, assuming I don't lose interest in this concept/story, and can actually afford to get this stuff made. To turn this Die Hard meets MGS/Lovecraft story into Star Trek, I'd expand on that secret organization I mentioned earlier. Right now I'm calling them the Realm Rangers, but I'm not really in love with that. Anyway after this 4 issue arc, I'd love to someday write even more issues about this squad and their Star Trekky adventures. Instead of a star ship, they'd have a secret base, Area 51, and use some kind of Star Gate like portal device to traverse different dimensions instead of traveling though space. And my thinking that it's not just a military base, Area 51 would really more of a secret embassy to beings from other dimensions, again very Men in Black in that regard, with a dash of Deep Space 9.
Ok so that's what I plan on working on for the next who knows years of my life. It's gonna be a while and a half before any of you ever get to see the fruits of this, but I hope it's worth it.
