Hey hey folks, sorry for the radio silence.
Soo, I did get the job! I'm now working as a level designer using Unreal 5. This early period is of course quite intense as I'm learning a new engine and getting used to the whole process which doesn't leave a lot of time and brain power for side activities.
That being said, I am chipping away at Blender, and at this point I can fairly confidently throw together a still scene for a poster. In all honesty I could've had that EP1 video out by this point if I had stuck to S2, but I really want to elevate what I'm doing to a higher level. Minute differences in visuals might be trivial to a lot of you, but they are immensely important to me. I rendered the above poster with 2 methods, one being Cycles (top), that most closely resembles real life and the other with Eevee (bottom) calibrated to look as close to Source 2 as possible. And I think the results just speak for themselves. One looks quite good and the other looks like real life, haha. Plus all the other things I've touched on before. There is a nigh-endless amount of things I'll be able to do with Blender that would be impossible in S2.
Also, thank you very much for the kind wishes on the previous post. I'm doing okay health-wise, but the procedures will continue for about a year until I'm done.
Also also, I'd like to reiterate: If you think this isn't worth your money I completely understand. These are quite big changes stacked on top of each other and I can't say when I'll return to a steady rhythm and how that rhythm will compare to the past.
Thank you for your patience and cheers!
