Thanks! Glad you enjoyed.
The specific part of Xen I wanted to replicate is the very first area you see in HL1. While the skybox has some more color in HL1 in that area, it is still dominated by teal. Other than that, teal is often used to depict Lovecraftian settings and I was definitely trying to wink towards that a bit here.
As for "justification" I imagined the star being a white dwarf and the gas giant either in the process of forming or evaporating, and so its colored gas scattering the sunlight, bathing everything in this cold, unwelcoming color.
Edit:
Also, unfortunately YouTube's encoding, even at 4K screws with a lot of the fine details and that includes color as well.

While not an earth shattering difference, some variation between teal, green and blue definitely got lost in the encoding process.

The video looks great, especially liking the pack of houndeyes resting on the left and the sheer scale on display.
I do want to ask though, is there any specific reason behind the choice of color? The muted green kind of stands out compared to most other depictions of xen that go for more vivid colors. Even the somewhat bland looking islands of Half-Life 1 usually had some pretty colorful skyboxes surrounding them.
Nothing wrong with it, just something I'm curious about.

It looks great! Your static shoots scenes always deliver in both quality and just general world building. Xen is always a weird area to do just because they were running low on time, but I feel that your reimagined of it is one of the better ones I've seen. Keep making these great SFMs.
