Y'know...I had to do some mental gymnastics to accept the idea that Poppy entered into a committed relationship with Kit so quickly. But this is what I'd been missing. Poppy has a very real expiration date, OF COURSE she's keen on finding someone to take care of Lily. So what do regular opossum couples do? Was Poppy just kinda old for an opossum to be having a kid?

Obviously these reasons would of caused a bit of tension in the relationship since these are a bit selfish reasons to be in a relationship. However a lot of relationships are built on selfish reasons like looks or wealth and would never of taken off if someone didn't have a good body or had a $100,000 a year job and home. Relationships take work to maintain. Honeymoon phase is over. It's now up for Poppy and Kit to put in work to strengthen their relationship or risk letting it dissolve. I got faith in them, but there's gonna be a struggle and likely tears in the process.
