Yes, WWX gave his Golden Core to JC but never told him. And it turns out that JC didn't return to Lotus Pier that night to get revenge - he was leading the Wen soldiers away from WWX but was caught and his Golden Core crushed. So he sacrificed himself for WWX but then WWX did the same. JC really could never just do something selfless/brave and be appreciated for it - WWX always outdid him. I think JC's been heartbroken for a long time and covered it up with anger. First he lost his parents and his entire clan. Then, just when things were getting better, he lost his sister - the only blood family he had left. And WWX was blamed for all of it, even though they both know it wasn't exactly his fault. JC had to give up his closest friend, his brother, who promised him they'd always be together but couldn't help wanting to save others who seemed to need him more. WWX took a path JC couldn't follow. I don't think Wuxian would have stayed so close to Jiang Cheng, even if the whole Wen nightmare had never happened. But it would have been a more gradual and natural separation as they matured and grew apart. Just like Wuxian's father swore to be Fengmian's closest supporter until Wuxian's mother broke them apart when she fell in love with Wuxian's father. Wangji went to the Burial Mounds after Wuxian died and found A'Yuan, brought him back, made him a part of the Lan Clan to keep him safe, and renamed him Sizhui as a reminder of Wuxian. We'll never know exactly how Wuxian died - the novel doesn't say either. Some combination, probably, of the Amulet exploding, the corpses going wild, and suicide/not caring if he died. Wen Ning gets to roam around as a walking corpse - maybe forever or until he chooses to stop living (same with Song Lan). In the book, wuxian and Wangji wander around solving ghost problems and sometimes take the kids along to give them lessons. And they have a lot of sex, haha. "Every day means every day." That's what Wangji tells Wuxian and that's what he meant. 😮🤣😍 Wangxian - the song name, their ship name, their future together forever...
