Chapter 12 - New Life in God of War

Well, he knew that Freya was a psychopathic mother, but the main reason was her troubled relationship with Odin, her beloved people who considered her a traitor, and a cursed prophecy saying that her son would die and bring about Fimbulwinter. In the end, she put all her heart into the person she loved most in the world: her son.

Fortunately, when she heard that Baldur could continue to exist and only lose his lineage, she was no longer so reluctant.

"When this happens, I can break the prophecy that would lead to Baldur’s death." Hyperion finished.

When he said this, Freya’s body trembled, and her eyes widened. Now, there was indecision on her face.

"I... I need to think about it, give me some time..." Freya lowered her head, her eyes lost on the floor, unsure of what to do.

But soon, she felt a hand on her chin lifting her head.

"Freya, look into my eyes... it’s okay, take as much time as you need. I’ll wait for you." Hyperion said, gazing into her eyes with care, kindness, and patience.

"Hmm," Freya nodded with a lighter heart. She decided to think about it later.

"Well, we’ve already explored Midgard, until we find the place where we will build our home in the future. Now, we’ll decide where to go next." Hyperion said with a smile. The place he was talking about was the clearing where Kratos and Atreus made their home. They decided to build a house there. It was more for fun, after all, you couldn’t replace a palace as luxurious and comfortable as the one in the chamber. Even Faye, who was somewhat hippie with that whole “belonging to nature” thing, liked the palace. It was mainly because the castle had a connection with nature.

"Well, how do we decide where we’re going?" Kratos asked. Over time, she had become much more open and spoke more. Although she was still stoic with Hyperion and the girls, she was no longer as rigid.

Hyperion was always very happy when he saw this.

"Well, little flame, I thought of voting. But first, let’s eliminate some bad places to avoid, like Muspelheim, Niflheim, Helheim, and especially Asgard, because it wouldn’t be discreet at all to ride on a giant wolf, which would end up alerting Odin and causing him to interfere with our adventure," Hyperion said, smiling.

"As if riding a giant wolf would be discreet anywhere," Freya joked with a smile.

Everyone smiled when they remembered the faces of people when they saw them riding a giant wolf.

"Well, now let’s vote! Alfheim, Jötunheim, Vanaheim, or Svartalfheim," Hyperion said.

"I don’t want to go to Vanaheim right now, I’m not ready," Freya said, holding her own arm, uncomfortable. She didn’t feel ready to face her people.

"I don’t want to go to Jötunheim either," Faye also expressed.

"So it’s Alfheim or Svartalfheim," said Hyperion.

"Odin has control over Svartalfheim," Kratos said.

"Well, then we have two choices here: we kill Odin now and ruin our future adventure with our children, or we go to Alfheim. Now, raise your hand if you vote to kill Odin now," Hyperion asked, smiling.

Freya raised her hand.

"Who votes to leave Odin for later and go to Alfheim?" Hyperion said, laughing.

Kratos and Faye raised their hands.

"We have a winner!" Hyperion said, raising his fists in the air playfully.

Freya became a little grumpy, but soon she felt herself being pulled into a hug. She smelled the familiar masculine scent of Hyperion.

He then whispered in her ear while stroking her back.

"Freya, it’s okay! With me here, I’ll never let you suffer. I just want you to stop thinking about revenge and letting it root itself deeper into your heart. Let it go, have fun, and fall in love with me. In the end, we’ll get our revenge on an Odin who’s not a powerful Allfather and cruel ex-husband, but just a guy who offended us. The greatest revenge you can have is to treat him like a nobody, someone who’s simply in your way," Hyperion whispered in Freya’s ear.

Freya listened, but her stubborn head didn’t change so easily. However, she had to admit that Hyperion’s words held some truth. In the end, she decided to just go with the flow.

When Hyperion saw her calm down, he crouched down slightly, slipped his arms behind her knees, and lifted her up.

"Ahh!" Freya let out a small scream of surprise. Soon, she found herself embracing Hyperion’s neck while looking at his profile.

It wasn’t the first time Hyperion had carried her like a princess, but she always felt her heart race when it happened.
