2024-07-23 19:28:52 +0000 UTCAlso it's important to remember we don't know these artists personally. Would we give grace to someone we love knowing the situation they are in? of course we would. We also don't have to justify their actions tho. So just enjoy the music Bob, there are always people online who will point fingers at others.

2024-07-22 05:32:00 +0000 UTCWow. Amazing reaction, really glad you could appreciate this for the masterpiece it is. For context, when this came out, it was super polarizing and it still is. Most critics hated it. This is truly an album that epitomizes the term “either you love it or you hate it”. There’s no in between. If you feel and understand the emotions coming from these tracks, then it’s a classic. But many people think this is a terrible album. For me, this came out 2 months after my mom’s suicide. I myself was very suicidal already due to being extremely sick from Crohn’s disease, having multiple surgeries and being trapped in an opiate addiction. I’m not exaggerating when I say I had this album on repeat for a couple years. It just hit me, even though most of my friends hated it. They just didn’t get it. Although their opinions didn’t matter, I did feel validated when Kendrick tweeted about this album and praised it for how raw and emotional it was. He gave X his flowers before he passed, and that’s important to note. I love how consistent and stripped back it is, but I’m excited for you to listen to his album “?” soon hopefully. This album shows his raw, emotional side. “?” really showcases his versatility. He could rap, sing, do metal-ish type music, as well as leaning toward more catchy, pop stuff. I truly believe he had the potential to be one of the greatest and most versatile artists of all time. It’s the reason he means so much to so many people and he’s still one of the most steamed artists currently on platforms. Thank you for finally getting to this and recognizing the greatness of this project that us fans hold near and dear. I was nervous for you to listen to it because of how polarizing it can be. But based on the type of music you like and the way you listen to music, I figured it would hit you pretty hard. Glad I was right. Looking forward to hearing your additional thoughts. This album hits different when you just listen all the way through without pausing. Concise and easy to listen to over and over again. It only gets better with more listens

2024-07-20 19:21:11 +0000 UTCKendrick retweeted this album with the caption “Listen to this if you feel anything. Pure raw thoughts. 5th listen.” So you were right on the dot with the raw thoughts you mentioned throughout the reaction bob

2024-07-20 17:12:07 +0000 UTCdamn this takes me back to high school, we all loved this kid and his music, interviews, performances. its hard to imagine how big he became but he was one of the biggest stars in the world when he passed, I recently went back and listened to 17 and ? again and ? is so much more enjoyable, although still quite lyrically samey, he really branched out with collaboration and explored different genres and sounds. if he had the chance to fulfill his potential he would've had similar careers to tyler and ye, Long live X

2024-07-20 12:56:42 +0000 UTCMan this brought back some memories. This came out when I was 16 turning 17 and was in a dark place. I truly struggle to go back and listen to this album, not only because of the memories it brings back but due to the stuff that continues to come out about X. But damn this was a beautiful watch. Thanks for making me relive this era.

2024-07-20 11:04:31 +0000 UTCKnew you would nail the tone with this one Bob. This was the album that brought my attention fully to the new era of hip hop. I was very much a rock fan and the day X died I saw his face everywhere, from the news to friends posting about him. I didn't recognise the name or face and thought "why's there such a big deal around this mumble rapper?" I went to Spotify to see if there were any songs or features I recognised and saw "PAIN = best friend" from the "?" album featuring a certain rock drummer (won't say for spoilers) who I did know and wow. It blew me away. Was not what I was expecting and I immediately listened to "17" and then "?" all the way through. Was in tears at many moments and my whole view on the new "mumble rappers" was flipped on its head. I then went on to listen to Trippie due to "Fuck Love" and loved his music too and still do. So yeah, this album has played a huge role in my musical world view and it was so great to see you react to it. Definitely give "?" a listen and also Trippie. Either Life's a Trip or any from his A Love Letter to You series (maybe bar 5...). love love love as always from the UK x

2024-07-20 09:52:13 +0000 UTCI enjoyed this reaction, since you're listening to Kanye again hopefully we can get a Donda reaction sometime but it's okay if you're not feeling it

2024-07-20 09:36:12 +0000 UTCHe also did that for pusha t album in 2018, it’s a funny coincidence that the rare 2 artists he shouted out, hated drake. 😭😭

2024-07-20 04:39:10 +0000 UTCThanks for the double vid drop Bob, hoping you'll give the new Gambino a try soon. i think what Bob was saying in the Fuck Love post listen about the gaslighting with emotions is exactly why i couldn't get into this album. Everything about the songwriting in this project just turns me off from it, I've been through heartbreak and listening to songs like these is probably the worst way to cope. Just my opinion though

2024-07-20 00:49:54 +0000 UTCi have a lot of personal connection to this album, and I haven't listened to it in probably over a year. Looking back it was crazy to see how many of the lyrics were something i fully believed and related to. Now that im not in such a dark place i can see how easy it is to fall down the rabbit hole or be pulled down by a stone, so to speak. for me, everything bob said in this reaction was spot on, and resonated with me heavy. Incredible break down of an incredible album.

2024-07-20 00:18:23 +0000 UTCTo think he was only 19 when this released

2024-07-20 00:15:06 +0000 UTCLoved the reaction! Crazy to think he was 19 when this came out. At one point he was the biggest streaming artist, would've loved to see what else he could've made after his album "?"

2024-07-19 23:54:15 +0000 UTCBob, check out X’s No Jumper interview when you have time. He was such a bright kid for having such a troubled past. He’s done some crazy, inhumane shit, but he seemed like he was trying his best to better himself. RIP X
