The static in the air line is one of my favorites on the album. it’s a double entendre too. static in the air creates lightning. So he prefers static (lightning/bad weather) over people that are fair weathered and only around for the good times. deep line. he’s truly one of the most underrated lyricist

It would be cool to do something at different times. Late night/tired reactions would be a totally different experience with some of these albums. Just hard to do that with family/job obligations

Sorry to hear about your cousin, Tim :(

Goddamn... which makes that whole portion of the music dropping off even more impactful

Thank you :)

I know you have a lot of albums to get to Bob, so he might not be too high priority, but I do have to say Wiki is one of my favourite rappers of all time, so I'm really glad you liked his verse on this album and even just the way he sounds. He has a lot of great projects from the past 10 years, solo and with the group RATKING. I really think his albums "No Mountains in Manhattan" or "Half God" (from 2017 & 2021) would make for good reactions/a good introduction to Wiki, the latter being entirely produced by Navy Blue (and also features Navy Blue and Earl Sweatshirt on different songs). I know you liked his production on The Bends and Azucar from the Some Rap Songs reaction, and I think you'd like it here as well, though the sound is definitely less experimental than it is on SRS. (No Mountains in Manhattan also has 2 production credits from Earl) I don't know how else to pitch him to ya, but he's a great rapper that works with a lot of other great artists, tons of great features and producers throughout his discography, lot of names you might not expect, like Skepta, Ghostface Killah, Madlib, Kaytranada, Denzel Curry, King Krule, The Alchemist, Your Old Droog, Skywlker, Harry Fraud, Black Noi$e, Lil Ugly Mane, MIKE, ZelooperZ, even was on a RTJ2 bonus track! (though admittedly not my favourite verse of his, so I'm glad AM // Radio was your introduction to him instead)

Thank you for the closing thoughts Bob, really needed that.🙏🏽

I for one, honestly wouldn’t mind Bobs dark room reactions 😂

Earl's verse on Wool is one of my favorite rap verses of all time. Just straight BARS. "Call me Lu, cuz if I'm on the track these niggas skip to me." 🔥🔥🔥

Fuck cancer. ❤️‍🩹 One of my cousins passed away from it about a week ago, even though she was a few years older than myself and we weren’t super close it still hit me harder than I expected, no one deserves to go through that but she was an especially kind soul. Grief never comes at a good time, but I’ve learned to let it happen instead of trying to talk myself into minimizing it. I hope your coworker finds as much peace as possible, thanks for being vulnerable and open about it.

I relate to the detour about listening to Radiohead while you were stationed. I used to be a corrections officer and most of my job was escorting for medical and mental health evaluations. I listened to Earl Sweatshirt on repeat while I worked there. 12 hour night shifts doing mostly nothing and the only people I could talk to were either sad stories or depraved pieces of shit. That’s including the inmates and the other correctional officers. I was just a 19yo out of high school tryna get some easy money. Worst decision of my life.

im only halfway through this but im glad you're enjoying the darker vibe of this. i think you hit the nail on the head with this being great to listen to when you're moody late at night. i find all of Earl's albums very cathartic

yeah

😂😂at least he realized

Mr. Bigweld

bob you gotta know, in the Nakel verse, its not his friend that died, it was literally his brother. He was in the studio with earl off acid and he got a call that his brother died and then recorded that verse. its awfully tragic

Eren Snover

1 minute into the reaction and I know Nakel verse will hit differently. Lmao nvm he thought the verse was about a girl leaving him

GimmickGOAT

huge ❤️ to your friend
