I try not to... it's tough. I get so excited lol

So so so Happy you did this one! I absolutely love SZA and you right on the money with all your theories on this album! Great job on it! Some people have mentioned some good newer R&B artists to react to, I want to add Ari Lennox to that list. Her EP, PHO, is really good but her Debut LP Shear Butter Baby is Fantastic. Also Ella Mai as well, although she more R&B/Pop mixed but her EP, Ready, is a short one but a great one for a good place to start. Keep on Rocking!

Gerardo Rojas

I’d recommend D’Angelo and the vanguard Black Messiah 👌🏽

Josh

this bugs me too lol

Dylan

bob i love your reactions regardless, but could you try not to skip ahead in the lyrics as much? or even read ahead as much, cuz i feel like listening to music first a big part of that is not knowing what’s about to come and sometimes i see u scroll down and spoil stuff or read ahead. not tryna be nit picky i still love your reactions 😂

jakob

i would also like to shout out Terrace Martin. Anytime you hear amazing saxophone in hip-hip, like on Pretty Little Birds, it’s usually him. Incredible player.

first taste of Zay… i’m so hyped for the cilvia demo reaction now. i just know you’ll be hooked from the first track. he’s not huge but every single one of his fans is a hardcore one as i’m sure you’ve already noticed. Cilvia Demo has gotten me through so many hard times. I’d describe his music as a mix between Outkast and Three 6 Mafia with the west coast flair of the rest of TDE, even though he’s from Tennessee. I even hear some Tribe influence in his music too. him and SZA are tied for my fave TDE members. Such a great duo because even though they are so different sonically, they both show the same kind of vulnerability. Glad you loved CTRL, easily one of the best of the decade and one of the best from TDE overall. SZA made a name for herself off this one album, and she’s similar to Frank Ocean in terms of popularity and how her fans anticipate her. CTRL is just so vulnerable and so relatable, no matter who you are. I adore this album so much

Antonio

I’m a sucker for Dads being amazed with their children 😂

Some albums by female artist that I think are essential if u r looking to do more of them: Rihanna - Anti Beyonce - Lemonade FKA Twigs - Magdalene

Samuel

We need Solange - A Seat at The Table

Isaiah Rashad - Cilvia Demo Probably my single most anticipated reaction from you. It’s not as conceptually centered and maybe doesn’t carry as much of a cohesive theme as CTRL, but it truly is just an incredible record. The style is Southern lo-fi hip hop — very laidback, chill production. Like SZA, Rashad is very open and confessional, Cilvia Demo lays out every anxiety and frustration he has from the perspective of a young, depressed alcoholic. The album is dark and bleak at times, but a lot of it just captures this perfectly chill vibe. It kind of goes back and forth from him bragging and talking his shit, to giving political/social commentary, to being very vulnerable and reflective. Production-wise, it’s sublime — there’s a lot of homage to older Southern styles of hip-hop, but with a unique, modern flair. Definitely a “smoking jam” type of album. One thing he’s amazing at is contrasting aggressive vocals with chill, mellow beats. In my opinion, it’s a perfect depiction of the mental and developmental struggles of a “20 something”. There’s also 2 killer SZA features. I could honestly ramble on about Isaiah for hours, but I don’t want to spoil too much of the album for you, just trying to maybe push it up your list a little. Sorry for the long ass comment, lol.

Loved this video, top 10 in your catalog for sure

VeganMilk

Cilvia Demo by Isaiah Rashad would be an amazing reaction. You’ll love it.

Figgerson

One of my favorite albums of all time. Bob would like it for sure.

Alex VonBerg

Bob, I'm very confident you would be into Punisher by Phoebe Bridgers. Not sure if she's on your radar or not. I also remember you liked the Japanese Breakfast track I sent you. Indie music is a great place to find amazing women in music.

Alex VonBerg

Who else wants to see a cilvia demo reaction?

Bobby porter

mr morale brought a lot of context to kenny's doves in the wind verse lmao

Psykopomp

If you have 41 seconds, watch Sza’s dad listening to Broken Clocks- breaks my heart. He barely knows the words, but he knows what she’s saying.

Ian Lewis

Good decision not to do the deluxe, imo

Julian

Thank you again Bob, for doing this album. Glad you enjoyed it so much and followed the narrative. It is one of those albums that becomes more infectious with each listen. Excited to see how you feel about it after some listens. The deluxe has some amazing songs, but you made the correct choice in not doing those with your first listen. You heard the album the same way most of us did our first time. Because the bonus tracks weren't added until WAY later.

Wesley

thats it. you now HAVE to listen to Isaiah Rashad to hear him with SZA

yeah

Isn't overly ambitious or anything just a great album for what it is

hlep me

Hell yeah, classic album.

Julian

Love this album can’t wait to watch. Would love to see you react to Idol Blue by Johnny Rain.
