2024-05-13 00:55:25 +0000 UTCI think you're selling it short by saying they became a 'little' more harmonious on their follow up. E. 99 had a whole lot of harmonies and is the album where they came into their own with their unique singing/rapping style. I just went back and listened to it today because of this reaction video, and it's fucking amazing!

2022-10-20 12:52:49 +0000 UTCE.1999 one of my top albums of all time, for that background atmosphere aspect. I spend basically the entire 00's listening to that album while playing Halo, Rainbow 6, COD4, etc

2022-10-17 12:30:30 +0000 UTCPlease add their second album “E.1999 Eternal” to your list Bob. It has more Harmony, great production, and more of a variety in content. They aren’t very lyrical, but their flow and delivery was unique, and it’s what set them apart from everyone else at that time.

2022-10-16 23:26:24 +0000 UTCThis was my suggestion btw. A lot of people have suggested E. 1999 Eternal, their next album, but it was my idea to use this as an introduction on a Monday. You're right that the lyrics are not so important to Bone Thugs. It's more about delivery and saying things that sound hard. In fact, Bone Thugs has one of the smallest vocabularies in hip hop, because they reuse the same phrases over and over. Still one of my favorite groups, because it's easy to put on in the background and soak in the atmosphere. I do think it is a fair criticism though - they'd be even better if they were a bit less repetitive. Bone Thugs is something like a west coast Three Six Mafia. They both rap a lot about demons and crime and have a fast rhythmic delivery. Bone Thugs had higher quality production because of the Eazy-E support. Hopefully we can see E. 1999 sooner rather than later. :)

2022-10-16 19:46:42 +0000 UTCTLC - Waterfalls is produced by Organized Noize of OutKast fame haha. If you listen to that song now you'll probably pick up on the similar production to OutKast first album.

2022-10-16 15:19:48 +0000 UTCGlad you enjoyed this classic. they did do a little bit more harmonies on the next album “E. 1999 Eternal” (also a classic). Their album after that, “The Art of War” is also solid but is a little bloated due to it being a double album. Their output after that unfortunately wasn’t really that great

2022-10-16 13:53:35 +0000 UTCBone Thugs and Three Six Mafia where very influential with the staccato/triplet flow which is that braille feeling you described, although very different ways of implementing it, i's kinda what help made southern and Midwest rap get it's own voice
