2022-08-28 09:20:25 +0000 UTCYeah no. This was closer than you think, just didn’t understand the references. Check out Drake vs Meek mill, where the original ghost writing claims were made by Meek Mill in his diss tracks. Drake responded accordingly and won. On certified lover boy, Drake dissed Kanye quite bit and had so many great disses. I think you need to for sure listen to “nothing was the same” and “if you’re reading this it’s too late” before you give final judgements on him. I never cared for take care as much either.

2022-08-28 09:19:43 +0000 UTCI wanted to hear them talk about the 40 sick sick sick lines

2022-08-23 03:29:41 +0000 UTCHaha I feel like I'm vindicated every time you diss Drake. He always annoyed me. If you're gonna do diss tracks, you simply can't look past Tupac's Hit em up, absolute classic and an atomic bomb when it released considering everything that happened leading up to it.

2022-08-23 01:59:27 +0000 UTCDude u should watch the BEEF series. It’s old but it’s fucking great and it covers legendary hip hop beefs, so u can have a better appreciation for rap beefs. Because I always thought the thing that separated rap from other genres is that it can be a sport too. U can probably find it on YouTube.
Jay Dog
2022-08-22 23:51:34 +0000 UTCYeah, i think it can be attributed to him not being properly introduced to the concept of beefs in hip-hop and how well crafted some of the best diss tracks are in relation to the real world events. It can be a chore to go back through time to figure out all the preceeding events though, but that's what youtube is for hahaha. I'm sure he'll take another crack at it. Imagine he stumbles onto the 50cent vs ja-rule vs fat joe beef hahaha it'd be great!

2022-08-22 22:48:13 +0000 UTCThe point is to laugh at a joke you don’t understand? “OVO 40 hunched over like he 80” is not a funny line if you have no idea what it’s referencing. It’s only funny (dark humor) if you know who 40 is and his sickness

2022-08-22 19:39:06 +0000 UTCThank you for this. Pusha still won but it wasn’t as one sided as they made it out to be

2022-08-22 16:55:32 +0000 UTCClipse - Lord Willin and Hell Hath No Fury is still his best imo.. Obviously not solo albums, but Clipse came on the scene and dropped classics back-to-back.

2022-08-22 16:50:50 +0000 UTCI really think some old hip-hop ignorance was shown with this one. Chalking it up to “so it’s just I’m better then you, I sold more then you and you suck” and then calling it whining while not even wanting to read further and comprehend is completely disregarding the craft of hip-hop itself. Every bar is absolutely put there for a reason and has a meaning and or a history to it. Both guys didn’t just do this for the fuck of it, it’s some real shit behind the scenes
Tribecalledjoe
2022-08-22 16:49:40 +0000 UTCI feel like bob came in biased ready to hate one and like the other. I think the biggest evidence of that was the OVO 40 line. He laughed but I don’t think he understood it and how sad and messed up of a line it was.

2022-08-22 16:44:20 +0000 UTCWhen it comes to diss tracks, context is everything. Really wish you had given more time to the annotations. Drake’s bars weren’t as obvious as things like “you are hiding a child” and “your dads a deadbeat” Like the whole Kanye part was not only entirely missed but also misinterpreted. It would have totally reframed the entire thing because not only does drake still write a lot for himself, but he also writes for other artists like pusha’s boss, Kanye. And the context behind drake being a massive pusha fan and having the fading microphone… Lots of juicy stuff that was missed. That said, pusha was surgical and fucking killed it. I wish you had also caught more of his bars like the Steve Harvey suits and the adidas press run.

2022-08-22 14:27:18 +0000 UTCI feel bad for Drake and I’m not even a fan, you’re so harsh on him lol. I think Duppy was a great diss(push’s still destroyed him) and I think a lot of the lines cut deeper than you realized

2022-08-22 14:01:05 +0000 UTCHi Bob, this video from Dead End Hip-Hop might be worth a watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RvxOz3cExI A lot of the nuance in both of these tracks went over your head (as is to be expected going in blind as y'all did tbh) beef tracks typically are laden with a lot of 'insider' information you would only know if you follow the artist histories alongside their music, I'm sure there are videos breaking down each track thoough that you can find on youtube. do a do over on these tracks with more information and reading the annotations! then do nas vs jay-z and 2pac vs biggie, i think that would be dope. P.S Here is Pusha-T talking about the whole thing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zN26h4s-gS8

2022-08-22 13:37:57 +0000 UTCWe need the Jay Z “Takover” vs. Nas “Ether” reaction now. Takover is an incredible song but Ether is so mean.
Tyler Johnson
2022-08-22 13:34:40 +0000 UTCSo much stuff pusha was saying went over your head, gotta read all those annotations on disstracks like this. It was a massacre

2022-08-22 08:23:27 +0000 UTCi really like bob and pusha t won this but bob is lowkey hating on drake

2022-08-22 06:47:45 +0000 UTCNot knowing the whole story and not understanding some of the wordplay really didn't help the drake reaction.....but yes the pusha track is legendary!!..duppy was great too tho

2022-08-22 04:19:40 +0000 UTCTo those bringing up the fact Kanye has people help him write his tracks - this is a widely known fact and is absolutely fine as Kanye credits all his writers. Hence he doesn't have "ghostwriters" . Kanye doesn't claim to be a great lyricist and that's not why people listen to Kanye nor his claim to success in Hip Hop. Drake definitely does have ghostwriters which would be absolutely fine to the world of hip-hop if/when this is admitted. You lose credit when you claim to write all your songs but very clearly don't. Anyway, the whole point of "The Story of Adidon" is that Push doesn't need to write about his drug dealing and Drake's ghostwriting. He can go straight for Drake's character and make people question it. That's why it's a great diss track and why Drake's "Duppy Freestyle" doesn't hit after Pusha released it.
RYAN J SANDERS
2022-08-22 03:22:54 +0000 UTC"YOU ARE HIDING A CHILD" lmfao, legendary. Everything about Adidon was calculated. From the real picture of Drake in Blackface, to him using Jay-Z' "Story of OJ" beat, then in the song calling Drake out for questioning his Blackness. Then allegedly "Adidon" was supposed to be the name of a clothing brand Drake was releasing with Adidas when he revealed his kid, "Adidon" being a combination of Adidas and his son's name Adonis. The song came out months before it was allegedly meant to be released with Drake in Blackface as the cover, so now when you Google the word "Adidon" that picture comes up. Things like that is what Push meant when he said "Surgical Summer", dude was hella calculated. Pusha is like a super villain lmao

2022-08-22 02:29:53 +0000 UTCThis reaction really needed all the annotations. A LOT of bars you didn’t understand the context for
Alex Cagle-Sanchez
2022-08-22 02:28:03 +0000 UTCSo if you rebuke me for workin' with someone else on a couple of Vs — V’s meaning verses. The ghostwriter allegation. Pretty self explanatory. What do you really think of the nigga that's makin' your beats? — Asking Push about Kanye who is notoriously known for having multiple writers help him out on almost all of his tracks. I've done things for him I thought that he never would need Father had to stretch his hands out and get it from me I pop style for 30 hours, then let him repeat — FSMH, Pop Style, and 30 Hours are all Kanye tracks that Drake has writing credits on as he wrote some of Kanye’s verses for him. He also wrote some lines on Yikes from YE Now, you poppin' up with the jokes, I'm dead, I'm asleep I just left from over by y'all puttin' pen to the sheets — During the Wyoming sessions it’s famously known that Drake actually flew out there on request of Kanye a couple of weeks before any of the shit hit the fan so he could help him pen a couple tracks that ended up on YE. Then once Adidon dropped and it got personal with the whole “you are hiding a child stuff” Drake suspected it was Kanye who supplied Pusha with that ammo as he told Kanye about his secret kid when he thought they were cool during the Wyoming sessions which caused Drake to feel Kanye stabbed him in the back and then that’s when the beef got spicy.

2022-08-22 02:22:43 +0000 UTCOk this is od drake hate lol. this was a great song by him especially when it came out, most the bars went over your head

2022-08-22 02:15:01 +0000 UTCI hope this gets you into reacting to “My name is my name”The best Pusha album in my opinion

2022-08-22 02:05:08 +0000 UTCI wish I could literally call you and explain every detail of this diss so u can fully comprehend how hard pusha went and how genius this diss track really was
Connor Grenier
2022-08-22 02:03:20 +0000 UTCDRAKE HAS WRITTEN FOR KANYE. The ghostwriting stuff is so pointless
Kevin Lauture
2022-08-22 01:58:52 +0000 UTCI loved the reaction. This beef was pretty funny to see live. I’m not sure if you’d be interested. But Wash Zeus in the Blood was one of the few times Ye dropped a song in time. The music video was age restricted after 1 day. I think it would be a great Patreon reaction before you reach Donda
Miguel Perez
2022-08-22 01:55:52 +0000 UTCWhen you got to the line "And I'ma let it ring on you like Virginia Williams", it was a pun on "put a ring on it", a.k.a. marry, and "shoot at you", as in Drake's gonna shoot at you. So I think you had the pieces to put together. I also think it's a really corny bar XD
bennymakesgames
2022-08-22 01:47:58 +0000 UTCI think trap lore Ross has a video covering the entire beef and it's really good. You should check it out even if it's in your own time so everything makes a lot more sense.
Genesis Osuna
2022-08-22 01:41:20 +0000 UTCThing is, pusha didn't hammer in the ghostwriting at all on Story of Adidon. He literally says "ghostwriting aside" at the beginning of the verse. And I don't know if you can say drake is a better artist than push... push had amazing, classic albums when he was part of clipse and as a solo artist he's had really good albums as well. Drake's catalog is a lot more filler and generic than push, especially from 2016 up until today. If that's your opinion, that's totally fine, but I completely disagree about drake being a better artist. Maybe at doing numbers, but that's about it for me honestly.
Genesis Osuna
2022-08-22 01:38:07 +0000 UTCFun fact : Drake has written for Kanye on multiple occasions

2022-08-22 01:37:11 +0000 UTCGotta do my name is my name by push! Kendrick feature on there too

2022-08-22 01:34:08 +0000 UTCOh the possiblities so many classic rap beefs 2pac vs Biggie Nas vs Jay-Z Ice Cube vs NWA Easy E vs Dr Dre 50 cent vs Ja Rule
Paul Salvador Estrada
2022-08-22 01:32:47 +0000 UTCi’m a drake fan so i’m biased but i don’t believe that drake has ghost writers. the only evidence of that being true was Quentin Miller. It’s just funny to me that push writes a diss track saying drake has a ghost writer when Ye’s had people like consequence AND Drake writing for him for years.
Justin Foster
2022-08-22 01:31:58 +0000 UTCGood reaction bob!

2022-08-22 01:27:30 +0000 UTCThis is only an extremely small snippet of this beef, it started in the early 2000's when Birdman didn't pay Pharrell and Chad for their beat lol

2022-08-22 01:16:32 +0000 UTCHell yeah, diss tracks are a part of the rap game that are just so dramatic and a little silly but really fun to watch. It's a lot like wwe wrestling imo. Would love to see a reaction to the MGK/Eminem and Drake/Meek Mill battles

2022-08-22 01:16:12 +0000 UTCBig pusha t fan I still enjoy drakes music though. But the pusha t diss track was probably one of the best diss tracks of all time.

2022-08-22 01:13:15 +0000 UTCPusha didn't just diss this man he emotionally and spiritually crushed him line by line lol. So brutal. Pusha saying "YOU ARE HIDING A CHILD" will forever be ingrained in my head. So unexpected.
Dan M
2022-08-22 01:09:36 +0000 UTCStory of Adidon uses Jayz's The Store of OJ as the beat. Also that cover artwork is Drake in blackface. lol.
joe
2022-08-22 01:08:30 +0000 UTCGREAT VID! Still think you need to dive into other Drake material tho because he actually is a better artist then Pusha and the ghost writing is merely from a few songs an not the majority of his work. Must react to NOTHING WAS THE SAME, his best album.
Lo
2022-08-22 01:08:27 +0000 UTCGreat video! Just want to point out the harshest implications of the pusha diss which you guys failed to mention which is that Drake spent his whole career rapping about having an absentee father only to go around and be one himself.
