2022-07-22 19:09:42 +0000 UTCtheres a lot of songs here that feel very personal to frank but there are others where it feels like its just him writing fiction. like hes just a story teller, telling tales that interests him. frank is a huge film guy and i really feel it on this album. i know hes a huge wes anderson fan too, so his fascination with well off, rich people being depressed also shows there. And Lost always reminds me of Jackie Brown. Frank is a huge Tarantino fan, he even references a Reservoir Dogs line on Sweet Life ("living in Ladera Heights, the black Beverly Hills"), and wrote a loose single called Wise Man for Django Unchained. Quentin just couldn't find a place where it would fit in the movie.
