I feel well fed, y'all. 2hr 15min video. Get your eats on!

I think you’d like mf dooms album “vaudeville villain “ the production is darker and his attitude is more aggressive

Isaiah Avila

Not sure if anyone else has recommended this yet, but if you are a fan of the early 2000s AdultSwim shows, I highly recommend you check out the Mouse and the Mask (MF Doom and DangerMouse collaboration that was sponsored by AdultSwim). Overall just a fun album with lots of samples, as well as original audio, from shows like Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Harvey Birdman, SpaceGhost, Sealab, etc.

orangejuice

That's wild lol

Jared

Don't feel bad about reading the lyrics! It's so great to watch that in my opinion. Love it

Hmm idk

This clip of Mike Lupica reciting Rap Snitch Knishes is still the funniest shit I’ve seen https://youtube.com/watch?v=Qe5Hfx1okZc&feature=share

Jay Dog

The output of Hip-Hop concept albums has slowed considerably but this is a prime example of a theme tying an album together and creating a narrative, message and story.

Victor Romano

hear me out, after you’ve reacted to all of kanye’s projects you should replace his monthly album with brockhampton albums 😌

Gunga Pig

My brother just pointed out that mm food is an anagram for mf doom. I'm shook

Sam G

I'm near the bay area, but I know basically nothing about the hip-hop scene or history

Bob_the_Poppop

There are a lot of skits, for sure, but they're telling a substantial story

Bob_the_Poppop

This album pretty much locked in DOOM being my favorite as well.

Bob_the_Poppop

Totally missed that

Bob_the_Poppop

For real

Bob_the_Poppop

haha

Bob_the_Poppop

:)

It would be cool to go through his albums backwards at this point, it'll almost be like Memento haha. I would recommend doing these albums in this order to continue working backwards: - Viktor Vaughn - Vaudeville Villain (different character, but still amazing) - MF DOOM - Operation: Doomsday (the beginning of DOOM) - KMD - Black Bastards (the downfall of Zev Love X, before MF DOOM) I also love King Gheedorah - Take Me To Your Leader but theres not a lot of DOOM rapping on it (he produced the whole thing) but definitely worth checking out.

snooza

Something I just noticed is that when doom says “I mix some herbs together and come back with this bicarbonate of fig leaf “ I think he’s referring to his “Special Herbs” albums. Those albums are just instrumentals so when he says he “mixes up some herbs” I think he’s saying he makes some actually good beats instead of the fake or unhealthy beats that most rappers use

opDavi1

I have no idea where you're from, but I was hoping you would get the old bay line in "Potholderz". When you went back and said you don't even know what old bay is, it kinda broke my heart a bit.

Michael Smith

If I had any complaints about this album, it has way too many skits included in it. like 4 songs in the middle of the song are pretty much just skits. Takes up about 20% of the album, but the material on it thats not skits is so damn good, classic DOOM and One Beer has the best instrumental backing track I've ever heard and the sample is just fantastic.

Raitis Stafeckis

Enjoyed the reaction, thanks man! Don't expect you to react to these haha but a while back I came across these videos called "MM.. FOOD The Movie" its the whole album and has the original clips/cartoons of the samples used and fan made video art in between the samples. It is really great and enhances the album even more for me! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ga-R6mxI5X4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJEPcPDmSpg&t=467s

Brandon White

Loved the reaction Bob! If you can be bothered, the original version of Kookies is worth checking out. I think it was pulled because the Sesame Street samples couldn't get cleared https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ci_XcL4nYos Would love to see Operation: Doomsday (the birth of the villain) or DANGERDOOM if you're looking to react to more DOOM. Don't ask me why but I get the feeling you may have been an Adult Swim fan back in the day. If so, I think you'll really appreciate DANGERDOOM. It's such an easy and enjoyable listen regardless.

Famous Amos

You mentioned you wonder if One Beer influenced them working on Madvillainy, this album actually came out the same year as madvillainy. the year before he had also dropped two absolutely incredible projects (Take Me To Your Leader under his King Geedorah alias, my personal favorite of his, as well as Vaudville Villain under the Viktor Vaughn alias), and at this time in his career DOOM was untouchable. He was constantly putting out music long before that was an established norm and it was all genius. Such an amazing artist, my personal favorite rapper of all time

Jake Curran

Was dropping in to echo this exact thought. Watching Mos Def geek out on how smart DOOM is never gets old

Ian Lewis

Also when you get to Run the Jewels 4 you might notice a parallel between this album and RTJ4.

Mohammad Moeladawilah

Operation: Doomsday please

StonedTree

Not sure if you caught it but the opener on One Beer "Rappers screaming all in our ears like we're Deaf / Tempt me, do a number on the label" is a double entendre reference to the record label Deaf Jam.

Will Pease

I look forward to your wife posting recipes for each track title haha. Operation Doomsday next?

Mohammad Moeladawilah

This album stands the test of time. In 100 years people will be able to put it on and be like "mf spittin"

The Gr8 Scott

https://youtu.be/zTBIvIDnnv8 I don’t know if anyone has shared this but you have to watch this Bob, it’s Mos Def geeking out about lyrics from this album and Meat Grinder from Madvillainy. It’s awesome to see such a great lyricist like Mos fan out on DOOM. I always go back to it!

Derek Lopez

August and September are already booked. Just part of the process. Have to be patient. Every week is an album someone somewhere has been waiting for.

Dylan Woods

Been meaning to jump on to your Patreon, but couldn't put it off with one of my favorite rap albums of all time! So excited to see how you like it!

Nathan Judy

We get it, you don’t have to scream in our ears like we’re deaf. 🍻

Tim P

bob... you HAVE TO go on Viktor Vaughn (his another alter ego) route too, and soon. oh and DANGERDOOM.. man.. dont be a fool and wait another 2 months, shit's too cool for that

Louie Henry

watching this while starving myself 🤞

Litty Again

such an amazing album

Second this! I am pumped to give this a watch, but I still show up for the Albums I dont love because I like hearing your thoughts!

Kevin Guertin

I'm only on song 3 but I just wanted to say that you shouldn't worry too much about how we perceive your reactions. Now, I can't imagine having thousands of people watching me react to their favorite albums, so I'm sure it's far more pressure than I can imagine. What I can say with certainty though, is that we are here because we enjoy watching how you react to each new albums. I'll speak for myself when I say that I just like the rawness. If you want to dig into the lyrics, do it. If you are more into the production and enjoying the feeling you get from the sound of it, go with it. In whatever way it's effecting you, lean into it. I'm sure with the longer it takes you to hear certain albums the hype can sort of add more pressure, but speaking as a fan who watches when you do albums I don't personally love, we are here for you. The music is important, but you're the reason we tuned in.

Wesley

I'm just using this comment to add The Documentary by The Game as a future album reaction

Brendan B
