BOB ;(((( sencond time I have this problem, the videos that are not uploaded to mediadelivery are gone, I doubt you'll see but omg Veteran is one of my favs ;((( luvya

max flax

I have the akg k7xx and 7506. I'd recommend either of them, but a better alternative to the akg's are the Phillips x2hr. They're cheaper and have a better build quality with similar sound. If you like speakers you should try open back headphones if you haven't already

Henry

Great reaction. I would check out All My Heroes Are Cornballs before LP!. It’s very different, and very interesting to hear how versatile he is.

PissGossypiboma

One personal thing for me I love about the album is all the countless wrestling and video game references (Rich Swann, Jason Jordan, Sasha Banks, Mankind, I could go on), as a huge fan of both mediums it kind of made me sad that you didn't seem to care about any of them lol, but it's normal, there's plenty of albums that reference things I don't know about, I just happen to share a lot of interests with Peggy Side note, I think the president assassination sketch you're thinking of is a Whitest Kids U Know sketch unless SNL happened to do the same thing, such a classic, RIP Trevor Moore.

Lil Mac

please please do Jaden Syre album!!! A lot of people slept on this album until they listened to it. Its not only a masterpiece with production but the concept was amazing. People think oh its "jaden Smith" and think that he cant make music but trust me its a must listen to!

Connelly Johnson

Please go in chronological order from here!! Everyone will especially want to see your reaction to the album he dropped this year, its fucking fantastic

Bryan

This is my favourite Peggy album. Such a fun and interesting listen. The more i think about it the more i think you're right in regards to your theory about Rainbow Six. I have heard that songs 20 times and never thought of it that way until you explained it.

Jakob Roloff

I thought the same thing i think you would love the instrumentals from earl and the content is kind of similar but delivered in more of a hip hop way

I love how well Peggy's dark humor resonated with you on this! His other two albums are phenomenal as well, I think you might be into Earl Sweatshirt's "I Don't Like Shit I Don't Go Outside" or "Some Rap Songs", similar vibe but a little more traditionally hip hop

They are strange and that's why Peggy is going on his own after this album. He got what he needed out of the labels and now he's got his followers. But yeah def pull up the "offline" YouTube version for sure if you ever get to "LP!"

Scott Watrous

Dude yes graduation is dope with headphones!

Isaiah Piedra

Sounds like a real peach 🙄

Bob_the_Poppop

Hmm... never heard them. I did a couple checks on Spotify, and I don't recognize the stuff I listened to.

Bob_the_Poppop

It's incredible that he does all of it. That's a lot of work to do.

Bob_the_Poppop

Thank you!

Bob_the_Poppop

That's odd that there are two different versions. Record labels are so weird, man.

Bob_the_Poppop

I prefer speakers, but... there's a trade off. Now that headphone recommendations are coming in, I might get a decent pair and switch over.

Bob_the_Poppop

Dude, this is a great break down of the album and its elements. Thank you for this 👍

Bob_the_Poppop

More Peggy is coming, that's for sure 👍

Bob_the_Poppop

Great video, glad you enjoyed the album so much. In the future if you do ever get around to his LP! Album, make sure you listen to the offline version. The version of the album on spotify is drastically different and not the intended version of it. He couldn't clear a lot of the samples so there is an online version of the album on streaming services like spotify and Apple music, and an offline version on YouTube and bandcamp. Can't wait for more jpegmafia in the future, all of his albums are so incredible!

Sam Shroyer

There it is.

The most comfortable headphones I have ever used are the Hyper X Cloud II by Kingston. They're not the best sound quality, but I prioritize comfort over sound. I work as a teacher online, so I wear headphones about 12 hours per day. I have never felt uncomfortable, whereas other headphones give me a headache and make me feel like my skull is being crushed. I have tried dozens of headphones in my life. There are people who will tell you that you need audiophile quality headphones and need to use an amp, but I prioritize comfort and convenience over the best sound. They’re extremely comfortable, but I don’t know how they will do for big ears. It depends on how big. They’re a mainstay in recording studios and the earcups are pretty big. They specifically market the large diaphragm. However, do understand that they are open-back, which means there will be some sound-leakage. Don’t use them for watching pornography. What happened to my post god damnit.

Dylan Woods

Headphones are better for detail retrieval but speakers are better for soundstage and imo speakers are more fun to listen to. It's a preference though

Henry

Hard agree, I rock pretty much that EXACT setup (beyerdynamic dt 990 + $40 AMP) and music sounds pretty great, nothing breathtaking but a very enjoyable experience regardless.

Lil Mac

So glad you loved this album, one of my favorite albums ever and his other ones are just as good if not better. I recommend also listening to his album “ The Ghost Pop Tape” it is a album he released in 2013 under his alias Devon Hendryx and its an amazing Alternative R&B / Ambient Art Pop / Electronic depressive album and really shows a whole other side of Peggy while also still sounding distinctly him.

Mr. Bigweld

I would back the recommendation of the Sony WH1000 series of headphone. Also I think if you’re interested in more of the “glitch hop” sound then you should definitely check out Injury Reserve. Especially their album Floss and By The Time I Get To Phoenix, the ladder of which came out this year.

retrocalie

You just happened to start using headphones on the one album that SERIOUSLY needed headphones to be fully appreciated. Regardless, headphones will always give you a more intimate experience with the album. I know you got Graduation by Kanye coming up, and I also suggest using headphones for that one. It’s a very high budget album therefore a lot of attention was put onto the audio engineering. The sounds in that album are rich and detailed. The Sony WH1000XM3’s or the WH1000XM4’s are, though pricey, absolutely fantastic headphones and the ear cups are fairly large so they might work for you. They’re usually on display if you walk into a Best Buy so it’s very possible you’ll get to try them out yourself before you commit. They’re basically the industry standard of noise cancelling headphones and have a devoted consumer base

Justin

Definitely check out his other projects, All My Heroes Are Cornballs and LP! by Peggy since you liked Veteran so much

Litty Again

Another great reaction Bob! I always found this album very interesting thematically. Sonically its just a strange unique beast thats super hard to grasp completely if you arent sufficiently proficient which i am not. But the themes of this album were always related to the title for me. Peggy is a Veteran of two industries the military and the music buisness and hes just so tired, disappointed and enraged by everything. On the military side hes a bit like Rambo a solider going back to a society that hates him, but in Peggys case its Trumps alt right neo nazi america that loves the military but hates black men. And because he comes from a broken violent neighborhood and his "career" was in the military his only response is violence to everything. And the music buisness is just pure disappointed in everything from his label and his fans to music critics and artists. Hes angry that his lable-mate is a women beater that critics dont understand his music that fans support people like Varg Vikernes (a noted murderer and nazi) and Morrisey a smug libertarian racist. And hes desperately trying to live in this world and just repeating in every song how this wont break him both as a black man and an artist, and how this hurts him personally and his relationships with people. As for the sample (You think you know me) thats his producer tag, which is a sound that producers put in beats so people hearing it know its made by them. It comes from the song Metalingus and is most notably the WWE wrestler Edge`s theme song one of Peggys favorite wrestlers. You should check out his live performance in the YT channel COLORS of the song Thug Tears its really something.

Boyan Konov

Morissey was the lead singer of the Smiths! Famous post punk band, contemporaries of The Cure and Joy Division. Though the band is highly regarded the lead singer is known to be insufferable. He’s gone on racist rants about how he doesn’t think black people make great music and stuff like that. He’s also the stereotypical annoying vegan who won’t shut up about veganism and shames anyone and everyone that dares to bite into a chicken wing

Justin

i personally preferred veteran but did see the technical improvements peggy made in the album after

Rasha Rahman

morrisey is the lead singer of the smiths and he has xenophobic and conservative views. the smiths are a great band tho

----

i find it hilarious that peggy uses cr@ckers when his audience is mainly white

----

You gotta listen his album after this, it’s arguably way better

Isaiah Piedra

the “you think you know me” is one of his beat tags

brice

You should def check out some videos of Peggy live, he multiplies the aggression and pace by 1000x every time he does something live.

Cory

Glad you're liking the album so far, but some very good and comfortable headphones are the Beyerdynamic DT series. They're not cheap, but they aren't completely unaffordable either (the DT 990 is $159 on sweetwater right now). A quick note on impedance - the DT series ranges from 80-250 ohms, meaning you can achieve higher sound quality than low impedance headphones (those under 25 ohms) but requires more power to achieve your desired volume/clarity. If you do purchase higher impedance headphones you will want to get a headphone amp with them. There are a lot of options out there, but for your purposes, I wouldn't recommend a headphone amp above $40. I'm sorry if this is incredibly boring for everyone, but I nerd out about this stuff and I'm always happy to help someone looking for headphones!

Isaac Gadberry

Yoooo finally! Ive been waiting for this since Tyler reactions. Not sure if you figure it out in the video, but Peggy does EVERYTHING. He produces, mixes, masters the music. Which is extremely impressive as far as music production goes. Usually rappers buy a beat, send it to a professional to mix it, then they send it to another professional to master it. And this dude was homeless at one point which is crazy - I’m Shupweme btw
