To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything! Julie Newmar is a really heartwarming and fun movie. There's plenty of very tense moments, but having things ultimately go so well is quite uplifting and we had a great time with it ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thanks for voting guys! We'll have the next poll up very soon โœŒ๏ธโœจ

I was hoping you would like this film because it is a feel good one. I have probably seen it over a dozen time because it is one of my mom's favorites. That is a Confederate flag dress that RuPaul is wearing. Her character's name is Miss Rachel Tensions and is a play on the term "racial tensions". (I didn't register the name until after many, many rewatches.) It takes almost 48 hours to drive between New York City and Los Angeles. It would honestly take 3 or 4 days if you stopped solely for fuel, food, and sleep. I am lazy and the most I have ever driven at once was about 14 hours. I never thought about it before, but I assume Vida is the one doing all the driving because she is the only one that knows how/has a license. She was from a wealthy suburb and I assume the others grew up in New York City with its public transportation. I think they are purposely vague about the location because they want the viewer to feel it could be any middle of nowhere town. From my understanding, the term "career girl/woman" really became a thing decades before this film when woman got jobs to have actual successful careers rather than seeing them as a thing to do until they got married. I get that she is supposed to be self-centered and inexperienced, but I have gotten very annoyed watching this as an adult that Chi Chi puts herself and the others at risk so often even when she is told why it is dangerous. Honestly, she should should still have some experience because New York City is not some utopia without bigotry and crime. Even if you don't include the drag queen aspect, she put herself in situations that would be risky for any woman. I am chuckling about "don't speak like a rich and educated person" because my youngest sibling (mostly as a joke) called me "bougie" a few days ago because of the way I speak. She has mentioned in the past that I like to use "big" words, but she knows that I have always liked to use the most appropriate word for the situation even if it is less common. My sister is probably also including that I generally only use slang in a joking manner and don't use most US southern colloquialisms. (I don't think I could drop the use of "y'all" to save my life. ๐Ÿ˜†)

What a classic! This movie took 30m to make and grossed back 47.8m and was the number 1 movie for 2weeks in North America. It also had Swayze & Leguizamo nominated for a golden globe. It was a 95โ€™ movie so there was a lot of mixed reviews but people mostly really loved it Also I didnโ€™t look it up ๐Ÿ˜‚ but I legit believe a Career women was a women who had a โ€œmanโ€™s jobโ€ at the time instead being a house wife or midwife, care taker.. etc
