Perfect Parry Podcast Ep. 8 + Update

Hey ya'll,

First off apologies for the absence again. I touch on what happened a bit in this episode of the podcast, but I feel I owe you all a more nuanced explanation:

So, I finish the FF7R, post it on Youtube, and I was going to post it here along with some behind the scenes stuff because at the time I had gone through kind of a unique process for making that video and I wanted to talk about it a bit, but that kind of write up takes a little bit of time and I didn't want to just half bake it. In the meantime, I started work on a new episode of the podcast and getting started on the next video and all that good stuff.

Then the protests kicked off. And suddenly it felt like everything I had to say was very, very frivolous in the face of all of that.

The world was on fire, riots were everywhere, I could literally hear protests outside my window, and I just kinda became completely overwhelmed and shut down. Suddenly it felt like talking about anything that WASN'T that was almost disrespectful, like I was talking over much more important things being said, but I also didn't feel like I had anything worthwhile to say about what was going on, so I just froze. I recognize this isn't exactly a rational response, but the human brain is bad at being rational when it feels like it's stability and future are deeply uncertain. By the time I was able to return to normal human activity, about a week or two had passed. In that time, the original Ep. 8 we'd recorded had to be trashed cause of a file corruption that destroyed one full side of the conversation and I couldn't even remember what I was going to say about the FF7R video cause that felt and still feels like a lifetime ago. So, all of that said, I'm sincerely sorry for vanishing once again.

NOW. This does not mean I have not been working on content. Quite to the contrary, I got to writing A LOT once I got my head back on straight, so I've got quite a bit lined up. Podcast is going to be getting posted every other week for the foreseeable future. As for scripted content, I've got something really exciting, kind of experimental, and absolutely fucking mammoth coming together. I'll talk more about this once I have a preview to show, but tl;dr it's going to be a very in-depth deep dive (almost Down the Rabbit Hole-esque) on the story of Pathologic with a bit of a theatrical flourish to it to keep it fun to watch. When all is said and done, the full video will probably be at least 3 hours. I realize this may seem like a weird pick for me, but I promise that I haven't been this excited about a project in a while. Started recording this week, going to try and have it out by the end of the month, at bare minimum a preview will be posted here before then.

I've also begun working on Part 6 of the Persona 5 series as I've been playing through Persona 5 Royal. It's my goal to finish that series once and for all by the end of the year. May sideline that if I feel myself getting burnt out on it, but there's actually not that much left to go in it relatively speaking, only 3 (now 6 with Royal) confidants and 3 palaces, should 'only' take about an 60-90 minutes of content to wrap the whole thing up, so I'm optimistic. At the very least, we will get to Shido before the end of the year, and at that stage the finish line is right there so can't imagine I'd leave that hanging. I've also been working on a script about Ratchet 3, and still have quite a few Final Fantasy scripts still ready to go if I feel my self starting to stall or needing to take a break from the super long form stuff that I'm finally accepting is the stuff I enjoy making the most.

anyways tl;dr enjoy the new episode of the P3, new Codex content very soon, mental health is important take care of yourselves, apologies once again for the delay, thank you for being patient cause I'm about to comeback strong

Love ya all,

Peace ✌️

I was doing the exact same thing before playing it, so I'm trying my best to make something that caters to that and put something together that will give people the chance to learn as much as humanly possible about the game without needing to actually play it. At least for the first route, anyways.

Can't wait for the Pathologic video. Probably have consumed more videos on the game in terms of hours than it would've taken me to actually play the damn thing already :')
