My Strike Story (w/ screenshots)

Hey guys,

I feel like I haven't posted enough on here so I'd like to bring you step by step through my community guideline strike and how I successfully got it removed.

(see attached screenshots)

My striked video is back up on YouTube, here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_sqObkbgGM

Here's my video on the strike: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sM3FRRp739g

So basically it started when I uploaded a video named Leafy Dickriders to my channel. It did pretty well and garnered almost 100,000 views. I woke up one morning and checked my email, I saw that my video was flagged for harassment and bullying and that I got a community guideline strike put against my channel. My video was removed and I had one strike put against my channel, you need 3 to be completely removed from YouTube.

I was angry and scared. I had put so much time and effort into my videos and then to have them unjustly removed I thought was completely ridiculous. So I tried to appeal the strike. They give you like a 200 character limit to appeal so it wasn't worth it really. But I tried anyway, and I woke up 5 hours later, checked my email and my appeal was declined. There are 500+ hours of content uploaded every minute on YouTube, so you're telling me that they checked out my video and read my appeal and decided it didn't pass within that time limit? That's bullshit.

After seeing this I was angry and decided to vent through a YouTube stream. I then found out that I couldn't stream because of the one strike. I was completely fucking livid at this point. I decided to stream through Twitch instead.

I got in contact with my Network and asked them if there was anything they could do and they said they'd try and send my appeal directly to YouTube themselves. So I waited and the next day they get back to me and told me that the appeal was declined and that at this point the only option I had was to make enough noise about it on YouTube so that the big wigs get scared that their big money makers will get mad at them over this and put my video back up.

This is complete bullshit because NFKRZ uploaded a video very similar to mine (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujS6GHtC6_8) and his video had 1 min of my video within his video. His video was uploaded after mine and has 30k+ more views than my video had. The only difference is that my video had "Leafy" in the title so Leafy fans came and spam flagged my video.

So I did my best to make some noise. I tweeted constantly about it, I reached out to others and made a long video about it. I got LeafyIsHere, Twigs, Katie Triggers Me (the two girls I made fun of within the original video), and NFKRZ to all speak out for me. Eventually Scarce saw my video and DM'd me on Twitter. He covered my video in two of his videos and even had an interview with me on his channel. At this point I had caused enough of a stir within YouTube to get noticed. I then get a random email from someone from YouTube telling me that they'd get this fixed for me. I send them an angry email back and within the next hour my video is back up on YouTube. I then speak with them a little more and get 10+ other victims to get in contact with this individual and have their videos put back up and their strikes taken down, too.

Victory? Well, sort of. It's a small victory; but most people who get community guideline strikes can't do anything about it and are powerless, hopeless and completely defeated when they get their videos removed.

If you know of anyone who is a victim of this corrupt system please get them in contact with me and I'll see if I can help them: elvisthealien.contact@gmail.com

I know this is old news now but I'm glad you got your video back up. The strike system on YouTube is so fucking broken and it's shameful that they will only do something when their top money makers(creators) start to speak up... I'm glad that the effort paid off for you in any case, I know how much work your videos take and it's especially cunty when it is your main source of income. Be well dude.
